I miss the simple control T function on 11. When I hit control T in X3, it opens the character formating on the side bar, but where do I go from there to adjust the space between lines.
I know I can break the lines apart, but there has to be a way to ajust the kerning and line spacing without breaking them apart.

You can use the 'shape tool' to adjust kerning. Grab the lil square under the letter and move it to where you want it.

You want "paragraph" formatting. It has the line and character spacing.
Also Si is right, you can also use the shape tool to move each letter by the little box at the bottom, or select several letters and move the together.

just press f10 and then grab the handles that show up. that's how i do a general kern or individual as Si said.

Easy manual kerning in X3, press "Ctrl, Shift and either "<" or ">". Use the arrow keys to cursor around text or just mouse click to desired area of kern. No changing modes just kern on the fly!

Does X3 not have numerical display of the leading? In 9, Control-T shows it as a percentage, and you can change those numbers.

X3 has numerical control of line spacing for artistic text, just for some reason they've seperated character formatting from paragraph formatting, both used to be in one docker. Both dockers apply to both paragraph and artistic text.
Since I do a lot of text formatting I usually have both the character formatting and paragraph formatting dockers on my sidebar, along with the object manager. I've also assigned 'ALT T' as a shortcut to paragraph formatting.
: To assign shortcut key
Tools>Options>customization>commands Click on drop down window that says 'File' chose 'text' scroll down in the window underneath select 'paragraph formatting' click on the tab that says 'shortcut keys' enter your new shortcut (Alt T) and click on 'Assign'
Remember to save settings before exiting the program (tools>save settings as default)

God forbid... I hate the term Guru, it's way overused. I just knew the answer to that question. Besides that there are some people here that make my Corel skills seem pathetic.
