I plan on buying this, but I see on their website that it states compatability with Corel up to version 11. Anyone using this with X3? Also, does this work well at "softening" pixelated images, or is it just for correcting blurred images?

Well, I downloaded the demo, and it works with X3. Did not have any luck using it to "soften" pixelation. Anyone using it for this? If so, what setting are you using? Is there another software that can do this?

Tim I'm not sure what you mean by "soften" would the blur feature in X3 not do what you are hoping?

I'm trying to some what eliminate the large pixels in a lower res. picture, so that, say a 600 x 600 res. picture would look decent when blown up to a 18" by 18" or so size. Someone had posted that the Focus Magic software was capable of this. I know "garbage in, garbage out", but trying to find a way to improve the image a little.

Tim - that was me that posted that...and provided a link to their site.
I don't own it, but according to their site/examples - that's what it does...sharpens/clarifies images somewhat.
Call them (alien skin) or post a message on their website forum - they are quick to respond.....
Like I said before though, you cannot make a crystal clear image by taking a low rez file and enlarging it - it just get's worse...and short of some fancy program like above, you can't do anything with it.
You have to start high rez and large and reduce to keep an image looking good.

Hi Todd, I called them. They didn't actually design the software, they just sell it. They sent me to: www.focusmagic.com I haven't had any luck using it to minimize the jagged look of of large pixels. It seems like there would be a software that would double or triple the number of existing pixels (not really sharpening the image, but reducing the jagged edge by reducing the pixel size). I guess shut a thing doesn't exist.

Try a Gaussian Blur in Photoshop then an Unsharp Mask.

I don't know anything about Focus Magic either. But definitely try what Mike said in Photoshop. Only first increase the dpi and Photoshop will interpolate it (that is, guess at the pixels in between), certainly far from perfect, but it does help a little.

I dont know about Corel but I have had success with Photoshop by resizing with Bicubic sampling in small steps. Genuine Fractals is supposed to be a decent program for this as well.
