Someone wants me to remove gold leaf/with the black painted backup from a restaurant window. How do I do it? The owner spent 1 hour and a painting glass scraper and only got 4 letters done.

Diane, That should be a 5 minute job with single edge blade in a holder, just make sure the blades are new. It would not be a good idea to use paint stripper in that environment. I don't understand why they had so much trouble.....I assume we are talking just about the letters & not big panels of paint.

Same here, fresh razor in a blade holder should do it.

Si's idea is good, but it makes you liable. Do it this way: Find a kid on the street, hand him $20 and a brick, point to the window, run [Wink]

Seriously, a razor should do it.

You could use a 9" grinder or a belt sander with 60 grit. Seriously, a razor should do it (ibid Jonathan).

I was thinking 12 gauge...but the hammer works. ( I guess that its the "Southerner" in me)...

Razor, like said above, but I use windex in addition that helps it slide better.

smear a thin layer of peanut butter on it, wait 45 minutes then use a single edged razor blade in a holder and scrap it right off!

Just let a bunch of cats lick the peanut butter! [Rolling On The Floor]

Ken, I can't believe you would give advice like that. You know you have to add some Rapid Remover to the peanut butter!

I used some Rapid Remover the other day. Isn't there a way to make that stuff smell like peanut butter?

And I'd like to see it in Jelly form...so it doesn't run down all over everything.

The best of both worlds...smells like Peanut Butter, goes on like jelly.

Can't you mix some KY in with it or something?

Nah...it needs to stay in place, not get hard.

Seriously, Windex made a version that didn't run...it was semi-gelatinous...worked well....that kind of thing.

But it has to have the peanut butter aroma....no smelly jelly.
