How long do you think it will take Mazeppa to realize that the best thing it had going for it is no longer there? It's worse than when the Cubs traded, Lou Brock.
I hope your absence leaves the town feeling empty and ashamed. I hope you flourish in your new surroundings and are appreciated and respected as you should be. I hope Mazeppa begs you to come back and offers you the world, and you tell them "NOT HAPPENIN' ... YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE ... YOU BLEW IT ... NOW YOU MUST SUFFER!!!
hahahahahahhahahhahhahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was cruel -- twernt it! Oh well, what can you do? Life goes on.

I think he won the lottery, big time.
He really loved New England while at Cam's,so maybe with all the money he bought a $300,grand motor home, pulling a big trailer full of his sign gear.
He & family will see all of beautiful New England, while painting his heart out as a old time sign snaper, waiting until fall in Salem, MA for the Bruin's 2 kick off the Hockey season, then traveling 2 Springfield, MA 2 see the famous Ice Palace at the BIG E where the legendary Eddie Shore[Mr.Hockey] won so many Calder Cups with his Springfield Indians.
His heart will bring him down the East Coast 2 see every Hockey team play in every state, while snapping between games.

Mike, I've always believed that to know oneself comes about by meeting others. Have a great time following your dreams and showing Eileen and Kaleb experiences they would never have staying in a small, quiet town. You've brought the world to you, and now traveling to meet the world! Maybe more will follow in your tracks. Life is short, got to follow your heart. Mine led me back home after I was gone for 30 years.

You all know something that I'm missing??? I thought Mike might be referring to the ending era being a purity in a midwestern town and didn't understand him to be moving. What's up Mike?
Posted by tim meyer (Member # 1012) on :
Hello Everyone!
Mike's big brother here.......
Yes, it is true. Mike is leaving Mazeppa. And Jill, Mike didn't post that pic. My daughter did it for him, just before he and Ayleen took off for a short R&R to Sioux Falls SD. No.....that's not where he's going to. Mike's moving to neighboring Cheeseland, Sconnie - Wisconsin. There are alot of factors involved with this monumental change. I was as shocked as everyone else when I first heard of this some time ago. Last week when I saw his sign down and the inside of the shop walls bare.... a tear came to my eye. I had an empty, sad feeling. The many many nights and days spent there just gazing at the amazingly beautiful works of art..... all gone. But, it's for the better.
Mazeppa never really took him serious nor did they show much if any appreciation for him. He gave & gave to the town becuz that's where our family roots are and he was loyal to that. The type of work Mike does and wants to do, financially it wasn't working. Match that with the mental & physical health of running his own business and dealing with every expert opinionated Joe Public that walks in the door critisizing this and that.... this move will give him a fresh new exilerating outlook on life. As the saying goes, you don't know what you got til it's gone. Mazeppa will realize that too.
Mike will still be around here and there. I dunno if he'll be as active on the bullboard or at meets like he has been. Time will tell. For now though, it was a good run. Change is good. This change is going to be good for him in many ways. For anyone who is still curious about further details, you're welcome to email me direct and we can chat.
It's the end of an era and the start of a new one.

I checked my atlas... and Sconnie Wisconsin must be like Yarrow, British Columbia... a great place to live but not on the map. But that is ok... Mike will soon put it there.
What town is Sconnie near... so I can figure out where it is and start planning how to get there for the next Letterhead deal at Mike's new place... perhaps the shop warming???

I got to meet Mike in Jacksonville for the first time. He didn't know me or anything about me except from these letterville posts and replies. He walks up to me and shakes my hand and says,"Steve Luck; glad you could make it." I was floored! Many of you here that came to Jacksonville made me feel welcome and I finally feel like a part of this family. Mike was so funny and great to be around. I wish him all the best in his decision to move on. Keep us posted as to your whereabouts whenever possible and we hope to hear great news from you soon.
Good Luck hardly says what we wish to say to you from our hearts, Mike.

Mike and Ayleen, You are two very special people. You are always welcome here. Mazeppa will realize very soon the diamond they had in their midst. Their loss. If you have never met the Meyer brothers you have missed two genuine, down to earth, caring people. Tim, you will miss Mikey. Mike you inspire and delight us all with your talents, your personality, your creativity, your kindness....good luck and much happiness in all you do. Have a safe journey....

Cant Believe it....Didnt realise Gerry bought the place Mike.. I know you love what you do whatever town your in and I'll never forget the place...who would have thought a dodgy Signpainter from the South Side of Glasgow would be riding Shotgun down Mazeppa mainstreet in Eric's Truck, playing the Kazoo waving a Scotland Flag while being escorted by a Stripper on a Buffalo...I still think I dreamt that.. All the best guys ..I'm sure you'll love the fresh start..
As quoted from the Shawshank Redemption... Fear will hold you prisoner...Only hope will set you free.
Talk to you soon bud.

As one of a few people with whom Mike talked at length about this, I think it's going to be a good move. The details of where he's going and what he's doing are his to explain, not mine, but what it comes down to is that he's outgrown Mazeppa.
I'm gonna miss that place, and more than ever I regret not making it to the Winter Muster (I went last year and in '99) More than that, Mazeppa will miss Mike Meyer. Towns do this all the time; they show little or no appreciation for what kind of impact an individual can have on the character of a community, and in this case they really stepped on their collective cranks. Without Mike, people are still going to say "Where the Hell is Mazeppa?" - but now they'll truly mean it.

Life brings changes, whether you want them or not. Sometimes it gives us time to prepare, sometimes not.
Sounds like you've got an opportunity to pick up and move on. At least you have planning time, and its a choice on your terms, not something totally plunked in your lap whether you like it or not.
I don't think its fair to us nosey people to give us a whiff of something... then leave us hanging!!
I know with us, Bruce had something up, but it didn't work out, so something else came up, but the timing was off, so now hopefully something else will come up. UGH...!! Sounds like a defective garage door opener.
That's why hardly anyone knew anything about what was happening with us behind the scenes, so we can understand your choice to be secretive.
Appreciate that you have your moves and choices on your own time! We wish you luck in your endeavors.

Mike Meyer is leaving mazeppa? Well, all I can say is he basically put that place on the maps, at least where letterheads are concerned. I hope wherever he is going, they decide to appreciate more what they are getting. Every community needs a Mike Meyer. He stirs things up and provides for a carnival atmosphere wherever he goes. Got a dead town? Call Mike Meyer. It wont be dead long. Good luck to you Mike and I hope wherever you end up, you are happy.
