The cover piece in todays Hamilton Spectator is about a wall ad in downtown Hamilton that was painted in 1905, hidden by another building in 1911 and re-discovered this week when the "newer" building was torn down. It is a Coca Cola ad with the price stated as 5 cents. Looks to be about 12'h x 25'w. From the picture in the paper it looks to be in very good condition for a 100 year old paint job. Paul Wilson wrote a very nice piece about the sign and the occupation of walldog. The Spectator's website has a really bad photo of it on the first page about 1/2 way down the left side. However they have not included any of the article. The picture rotates with two others from todays paper. The addy is http://www.hamiltonspectator.com/.
I don't have any way of getting a better shot of it for you in the next few days as we are leaving in the morning for a six day vacation in Utah. If you are keen about these things I think you could email the Spectator and request a copy of the May 17th edition or a reprint of the Paul Wilson Streetbeat column for today.
