Anyone know a fairly easy way to make letters appear to be made of chrome or brushed metal?

I have been looking for an appropriate font but can't seem to be able to find one.

Here's what I'm trying to set.

New Company
...Old Friends

back to the drawing board for now!

thanks

Hi Dale!
Here's how I do it in Corel Draw.

1. Here I've drawn a box just splitting the letters.

2. I converted the box to curves (CTRL+Q) and added a bunch of random nodes changed some of the lines to curves and made it wavy.

3. With my box selected I use my intersect tool and clicked on my letters.
I've deleted the box after I have intersected my letters and now you can start to add color. With your interactive fill tool , hold down CTRL when you drag it on your letters, select cyan for your top color and white for your bottom. On the bottom shape I like to use grays and whites, I dont mind the browns and tans but it seems a little dated looking to me so I like to use grays.

4. Here Ive added a fat outline

5. I played around with the colors in my gradient fills here, added a highlight and some twinkles to make it look a bit more shiny.

There ya have it!

Hope this helps.

Stevo

Alas Corp. has a product called MirrorChrome. Expensive as all get out, but you get what you pay for. If you know your way around a spray gun it is awesome.

You also may want to try Alien Skin Eye Candy filter for Photoshop. They have a free fully functional 30-day demo:

Eye Candy 5 Impact

Although Stevo's demo is awesome!

I did a "how to" in the tips and tricks section with the Alien Skin Eye Candy that Tracie suggested.

I think that you want to paint the chrome. Good for you. There was life before digital. Take the example above and look at it. Paint the base. Do the brown horizon line with an air brush or a spot gun or full sized gun depending on the size of the letters of course. Blow the blue in from the top fading as you get to nothing as you get to the center. Spray a coat of clear to seal the misted overspray. Then grab a brush and add a drop shadow if desired and last but not least, add the outline. It's really tuff for chrome letters to stand alone without an outline so besure to add one either real light or real dark. Remember above all else. Shadows should look natural, not some ridicules primary color.
keep on strokin'......
