Is there really no means of scanning into Adobe Illustrator CS, or am I crazy?

Okay, just answer the first part of the question please.

Nope! To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a way to "Scan" directly into Illy, and still haven't made it possible in CS2, although the live trace is worth its weight in gold. That way they try and force you into buying Photoshop as well! You can however, use the scanners own software and then import that file into Illy, but you won't be able to do anything with it as far as converting to vectors. Priot to Illy CS2 you needed another program such as Streamline or Corel Trace to convert the file and then you could use it in Illy. There have been all kinds of crys from devoted Illy users to add and upgrade Streamline for a number of years, but Adobe did not own the rights to it so for all practical purposes, seems to have been scrapped. Illy CS2 now has it's own trace function which I already raved about. In some ways its better than Corel X3's Trace and in other ways its not. Like everyon says..."its what your used to" Robin

If Streamline didn't come with CS then I don't have it.

Strange that a program like this doesn't have scanning capabilities.

Thanks guys.
