Has anyone else Had this Happen. Lettered a few trucks less then a year ago. Used Avery Champagne Gold over 3M Black. The Gold isn't Shrinking its just falling off the darn Trucks. This is the 3rd one that has come back from that time frame. Has anyone else had this problem. This is a first for me in 11 years.
I don't need help looking like an Idiot.. Thank you very Much.. I can do a fine job of that on my own.

Nope. Mine just shrunk. You were probably luckier. At least you didn't have the labor of removing the remaining glue and vinyl.

That happened to me about a year, but it only took a couple of weeks for the problem to occur. I can't say for sure that it was Avery, but it might have been. However it was a metallic gold over another color. I actually notice that I was having a hard time getting it ti stick when I applied it. When I re-did the job, I cleaned the base vinyl well with Rapid Prep. It hasn't come back again; I can only hope that's good thing.

Sometimes simply mixing and matching name brands can cause a failure too. Ask me how I know.

William I have the same problem. I used Avery 2 mil (A-8) Dark green underneath and put Avery 2 mil (A-8) Kelly Green overtop on two semi trailers. In less than one year the dark green has shrunk and twisted and come unstuck in places. (and yes, we cleaned thoroughly and used Rapid Prep). The Kelly green has now lifted so badly that the letters have broken and are flapping as this truck drives down the road. It is my only one of two complaints I have ever had with Avery (in fact, I have always pushed Avery as being so great) The other problem I had was on a dark tinted window. A 16 inch digitally printed circle joined (and overlapped minimum 1/4 inch) now has a space between the joins.....almost 1/4 inch wide.....that to me is major shrinking....and it was printed on white 2 mil Avery A-8.... I have several calls into my supplier and they keep saying they will send a rep but that was a few months back and I would like to compensate my customer to keep him happy.....but I think it's time to go above them and directly to Avery. The last thing I wish to do is to remove all that vinyl and have to clean the trailers and redo it all....good luck with your dilemna....I'd be interested in hearing how your story ends.

I use Avery a lot..so far so good..
(fingers crossed for good luck)
IF there is a problem that occurs, be sure that I WILL be compensated for both materials AND time (at $60/hr)
I have been through this once before with one particular colour. Several years ago. Satisfaction was provided by the local provider.

The only gold(s) I had used from Avery were their Bright Metallic and standard Metallic for the local PD. Within 6 months the vinyl had turned brown...it stuck pretty well, though!

We've used one roll of Avery only because it was the only thing we could find in glittery metal flake blue. The stuff literally fell off a van in six months. Fell off glue and all. The few letters that were left peeled off the van easier than coming off the backing paper. The logo, done in Oracal, is stuck great. Luckilly Ameriban jumped right on taking care of the problem and is filing the claim with Avery for us.

Possibly ALL the failures we've experienced have been metalics on dark backgrounds. I don't believe any of them were Avery.

We have had 3 failures with Avery. The last one, I was applying Black /dot numbers while the customer was standing there. Cleaned the area well. One side of the truck no problem, other side didn't stick at all. It was new roll, Had to go find a scrap of 3M to finish the job. The only Avery I use is the white paint mask.
