I am a new Letterhead with a question. I have been hired to paint a logo and lettering on a white dry erase marker board ( an A-frame sidewalk sign). What kind of paint works on this surface? My first instinct is to lightly sand the surface, under the area to be painted, then use One-Shot. I've never done this before and need some advice from the experts! Thank you.

Hi Nancy, Welcome to Letterville. Is there any place you can test on the piece? Without seeing the exact material, I'd say just dive in and paint. I don't think you'll have a problem.
I use shower board for dry erase. Works great.

...Sanding will leave marks. I'd clean it w. spray cleaner (windex), and paint it with lettering enamel. Welcome to, too.

Hi Nancy, Welcome. I've not had too much luck getting paint to stick to dry erase board. Can you use vinyl letters? Also, most of the dry erase boards are made of rather cheap masonite material. If you're going to make an A-board to go outside, be sure to seal the edges and back thouroughly, or it won't last long.

Thanks for the advice, the A-board is one of those awful white plastic deals, with thin metal white dry-erase panels skrewed to it. The customer was going to send it to her vinyl guy to be lettered, but wanted it to have the look of my hand painted font. I told her I could do it better! (good thing I don't know what I'm doing, eh?) So, I cleaned it up real good, and am doing small test patches with 1-Shot. This is not a big job, but one of my firsts, so I really want to please my customer. Wish me luck, I'll need it!

I've been painting with 1-Shot on dry erase for about 20 years. No problems. I'd try either Ronan or 1-S, just listen to Billy Pickett. Love....Jill

I've had good luck with marker boards either painted or vinyl. (magnetic ones are metal with melamine surface, they are pretty slick so I just add a little spar varnish to my paint, not too much. be sure surface is clean and dry and play like you are painting on glass. Bill PS: You can letter on paper, scan it trace and cut in vinyl too. Gives the hand lettered look. Bill
