I have been away for a while concentrating on my next career plan...to become a "real" calligrapher. I have and still continue to practice several hours every week, I have joined calligraphers guild and now I guess I am ready to get out and get some "real" order.
The window splashes business will be mostly runned by my long time partner Steven, and I will concentrate on calligraphy, wedding invitations, diplomas and hand lettered logos.
If you want a copy of my flyer in a nice calligraphied envelope, let me know your postal address! I am nowhere in the league of John Stevens but I am having a blast!
Life is sooo good!

You should hook up with the Society of Scribes in NYC. They are one of the most important calligraphy guilds out there.
I'd love to have one of your flyers. I've come back to calligraphy in the last few years myself, as a design tool. To sit and pen and brush all day would be pretty fun. I've been to two Cheerio retreats, might meet at one sometime. Thanks

Does this guy have talent or what... it only goes to show that it doesn't HAVE to plug in a wall to work !!!

Beautiful work Pierre...I'd like your flyer too....maybe I can send some work your way. You have a very nice, fluent hand...it showed when you did window splashes, but it really shines with that calligraphy ! You are well on your way to being one of the best, imho.

Those are beautiful, Pierre!! I would love a flyer. I hope this career goes well for you...I can't see how skills like that could go unnoticed.

Send a few our way Pierre. You and I have spent some cool times in person playing with calligraphy. In the process, I got hooked too. Let's see how high you can soar.

Pierre-
Talent like that is worth promoting... My experience is that a listing under "calligraphy" in the phone book is worthwhile because there aren't many calligraphers, the listing costs almost nothing, and quality competition is almost non-existant. Actually, it would be nice to have more competition- calligraphy seems an underappreciated art.

Don't sell yourself short, Pierre - you're every bit as good as John Stevens (and anybody else, for that matter)
It's very cool watching talented people like Stevo, Mike Lavalee, and yourself take off and run with a unique niche market - we can say we knew you when......

Wow Pierre,
Great hand you have! I did this with a passion when I was eight. It was my springboard into hand lettering! LOL. You have it dear, run with it!
I think I was 17, I used to ride the bus into town with my mother on weekdays to go to work. We had the same driver each day but one day it would be a Trailways bus and maybe a Greyhound the next. I fell in love with the Greyhound logo and dancing with a number eight quill and some gray, oops, grey paint (LOL) I painted a Greyhound taking a nap with his snout resting peacefully on his front paws. I took it to show my bus driver and he snatched it from me and said, "WOW! My daughter's birthday is today and I didn't know what to get her that was special...she always wants me to let the dog take a nap so I don't have to go to work" (LOL.)
I wish I'd had a camera back then. (I got that lecture from my Mother, too LOL.)
I'm so proud of you Pierre and would love to share your brochures. May I email my address to you for some?

Thanks a lot for the nice words! I'll have those flyers put in the mail in the next couple of days.
Hey, I am not a newcomer to hand lettering, a friend of mine founds those pictures back when I was lettering soapboxes and even putting my advertising on them to get more of those to paint!!
You have to be very passionate about hand lettering to go trough hundreds pages of practice like those...
By the way for those lefty you should have a look at this website: www.beyondwordsscript.com John Decollibus is a left handed penman, his work is totally amazing!
Life is so good!

Looking good Pierre! I got some pictures like that too...those were the days.....riding bikes and eating licorice.....lettering everything that didn;t move

...Pierre you still look the same! I'll bet you were quite the handful as a kid. And far more enterprising than me! All I had was a Kool-Aid stand. Love....Jill

Pierre, thanks for the link to John's website. Almost two years ago I was fortunate enough to attand a Cheerio calligraphy retreat and the instructor was Gaynor Goffe, a lefty from England. Since I am a lefty, it was quite a humbling experience. I had become pretty effecient at rendering blackletter upside down, Gaynor wouldn't hear of it. She changed my hand postition and after a couple sessions 'til midnight, a new way of writing was developed. Your work is very nice, keep it up.

Awesome work, Pierre, could I have a flyer too?
Thank you so much for posting that link. For the first time I've seen that it is possible for a leftie to write beautiful calligraphy. This is very exiting, now I only have to find myself a pen like the one he uses... BTW, click on "About the Artist" and then the "Offhand Flourishing" video. It's a treat!
Edited to add my postal code: S0A 2Z0

Yeah, but watching Pierre do his thing with calligraphy is something else. He'll stand there with one hand in his pocket making it look so easy...I hate him for it! (inside joke ... )
Beautiful work Pierre... Rapid
