In the last few days there have been several people mentioning motorcycles - Brian Q, Bob Stephens, Roy Frisby, Curtis... Who else rides? And what do you ride? My bikes are a 1995 Triumph Thunderbird and a 1972 Norton Commando.

Cam, I have Norton envy. Always wanted one. I'm riding a 99 Kaw, Vulcan Nomad 1500.
Had an older Wing but it just didn't feel like a bike. Maybe in another 10 years I'll be old enough for a road sofa again.

I have a 2000 Suzuki 1500lc. Added alot of extras and custom paint. I love riding man. Cant wait for warmer weather. I was a big fan of Nortons and Triumphs years ago Cam. They made great bikes. I havent really seen any of the newer ones though.

2006 Metric cruiser.. Yamaha 1100 vstar classic, first bike in years and years. I love it! This will tell you how much I LIKE TO RIDE...Bought it new at the first of August, put it away at the middle of November and put 6000kms on there.

Bill, there's only one cure for Norton envy . I wanted one for twenty years; finally bought one two years ago. The only thing I can compare it to is a tempermental redhead - high maintenance and feisty. They are not for the faint of heart, but when you get on one she will rock your world. I have a '02 Honda Shadow Ace 750, which is my second bike. 2 years ago, I got my first one, an '86 Honda Shadow, and I sold it last year and got the '02 (because I wanted something that I could get aftermarket parts for)..
And I just picked up (last night in fact) an '86 Honda Rebel 450 for my fiancee.

1972 Bultaco Matador was the last bike I had.
Fully enclosed chain, full fiberglass tank/seat/rear fender combination.
A great off road/trials type bike.
250 cc with gobs of torque.
Shift on the right, and break on the left.
A large heavy bike, but it could climb a wall or a nice stream bed with big round rocks, with plenty of balance and power.

Been awhile since I've rode a bike. Raced Motocross for 10 years. Last street bike I had was an 83 Honda 450. It ran like a top and I could pull wheelies with it on main street!

I ride behind my husband on his '83 Harley Sportster.
I used to ride dirt bikes when I was younger, up til I was about 18 when I moved out. Now I am content to ride behind Jon.
Bob, I remember my dad had a Bultaco when I was little. He raced it. He used to race hillclimbs, hair scrambles, & mud runs. Once he had a race at our house, & part of the track went through our barn!

Ok, Good excuse to dig out the old photos and scan them in.
My Triumph 500 twin bolted to a 650 BSA frame. I owned and rode this bike when I was 16 years old.
My Snorton Norton 850 Commando. I believe it was a 1972. This was stock as I bought it.
My 1978 Yamaha 750 Special with a Windjammer fairing and tote box added for business trips.
My 2002 Bandit. This was the tractor trailer that ran me over. The rear wheel ran over my left leg as I was thrown underneath the truck. This is the only good photo I have of it.
And this is my pride and joy! A 2003 Suzuki GSXR1300 Hayabusa. The most awesome piece of machinery I've ever owned on two wheels.

I have 2001 Kawasaki 1500 Nomad and a 96 Goldwing. Boy, I remember the Bultaca and the way they would start with the engine running the opposite direction, hard on the shin when trying to kick start.

I enjoy biking and have a 1980 sportster which hasn't seen the road for years , its all up and running now ready for a new paint job in time for the tickle, I also have an old dirt bike for running around the hill it's a yamaha dtr125 small but lots of fun

185 cc Suzuki but haven't gotten it out in a few years. We have 60 miles of trails in the state game area at the end our our road. We used to spends hours back there riding day and night. Some of our best rides were well after dark. When we didn't have any kids, my husband would come home from work at midnight and we would jump on the bikes and ride. The State then closed the trails down to motorized vehicles and horses.
My husband bought an old Gold Wing 2 years ago but it spent last summer in our garage getting worked on.

As far as street bikes, I'm one of those, I prefer Harleys...It's a great bike w/the right mods...I've owned four; '38 knucklehead w/22" over front-end, a bar hoppn' Sportster bobtail, very fast and deadly, almost bought it on that bike one drunk, crazy night in Vegas, sold it shortly afterwards... I had just finished two newer Evos bikes for myself when cancer detoured life, one was a "road" bike, fast; the second was loud and obnoxious for the "bar-hopping" scene, fast too, but in shorter spurts, it's the only one I ever got to ride, both sold to pay doctors... Since I've acquired Scotty, and riding doesn't equate anymore, I'm content to harbor my memories of riding and drive instead... Roy, BT's would enter you into over handlebars club faster starting them, then if highsided...heheh Spent younger years desert racing bikes/cars...bikes included Huskys, Bultacos, CZs, and my overall favorite, a Honda 600+, won Barstow to Vegas on that one, scarey fast...(that was year protestors of race stuffed culvert crossings w/barb wire; drive into that at 60-80 and a visit to a hospital is for sure, afew did, almost cancelled race for next year and eventually it died from protestors efforts, pity too, good race... in the service65-69 freind from ney tork hada BULTACO 250, sucker would run wrong direction...only you didnt know that till YOU PUT IN GEAR,....and it went backwards...then another guy bought a 350 DUCATI single cyl. him and i wore it out. iam a big guy and that was the only bike that ever threw me over the handlebars while tryin to kickstart it. it had a compression release so it wouldnt do that but i figured i didn need that...yea right. 72 i bought a new 350 honda scrambler. nice bike. 73 i came back to pa and bought 62 HARLEY panhead...full dress. loved it...since i sold it, i havent owned a bike. was lookin hard at a cow 1500 when gas hit $3 a gal....still want one....

What Magoo, said and a few panhead bobbers. Favorite was a one lunger Velocette that would scream.Had a Whizzer and some Cushmans also and Honda trail bikes. Way to many crashes. Didn't ya love them foot clutches and hand shifts on the tank?

My second hubby had a 1969 Truimph (tiger?) that was chopped out. It was one of the few things I liked about him. No sissy bar and you had to hold on tight! And yes it had some good vibrations. I used to have a rather interesting picture of myself on it...but I usually burn things after a divorce. He once flipped over a trike with me on the back of it. That was my last ride. Love....Jill

I've only had it up to 175 mph in 5th gear and I still had 6th gear left. Bike has a restrictor on it so you can't go faster than 186 mph but you can override that and with a few modifications the bike can do 200 mph. I have several buddies with the same bike running turbos and putting out 300 h.p.
Right now its plenty fast enough for me but I am starting to think about going turbo with it. Either that or I'm going to get back into skydiving. That's even faster and a lot safer than bikes are.

For me it's a K1100 BMW, That's for longer rides but also have a 2003 KLR. That one has been through Central America and up north through the rockies, around Utah.
It's the long rides for me. Ha, I've even visited Roswell, NM a couple of times for the annual UFO meet. That's July 4 Fun!

I gots me a 2005 Harley Super Glide, been modified from stock and it will evolve into something unique that I can call my own.
PS: can anyone recommend a good aftermarket seat that will be comfy for a long ride, ie: 6-10 hours on my butt riding.

Tobin seats are really popular with the Hayabusa owners although I don't know if they make seats for other bikes.
The guy is always busy and some have had a hard time reaching him but his work is outstanding.

I second the Corbin.
On my stock seat, I did a poker run, and at 75 miles, my lower back, butt, and legs were killing me. I changed over to a Corbin solo gunfighter seat, and did a 300 mile ride a couple of weeks later. A huge improvement.
