Slipped into work today to get some cedar posts clear coated so I can get them out of the floor. Went up to the office while the shop warmed up. Jumped on here to see what was happening. Decided to go check my web site and edit a few things in the gallery (since we just have got that all fixed after being hacked). And low and behold....THATS NOT MY WEB SITE!!!! After picking my self up from the floor and putting the gun down. I went to figuring out what had gone wrong...this time! Come to find out my domain name had expired on the 18th! The company had sent me reminders...of course they were to my old e-mail address!!!!!! Was able to get into the old e-mail threw the net (account is luckily still active) and there they were (along with 765, not kidding, 765 other spam crap) I clicked on the link and went to the site and it allowed me to renew (for 3 years) but.... Since there is another company using my frickin domain already, am I gonna get my site back? Anybody ever had to go through this?

I'm afraid if yours expired and somebody else bought it you won't get it back unless you want to pay the new owner a lot of money. This is one of those lessons we learn the hard way.

Opting for long term registration is a good thing, saves money in the long run as well. Mines good 'til March 2015.

if you renwed the domain name,, the company shoiuld be able to get it back. If the domain name is registered to someone else then you may have lost it.
That site you see looks like a place holder for the registration company. Looks like you could get your siate back as soon as the compnay gets its paper work in order.. This is what is listed for your domain..

Curtis, do you "move" your domain name?
I did go to the link the company had sent and it allowed me to renew, but it says pending procces?? or something like that and will take up to 48 hours to get it back on line, if in fact it can get back on line.
Gues I have to wait 48 hrs to find out. Yippey

Jake, I just went to the site and I saw a sign company pics that was using letterhead fonts. As it continued loading there was your name right at the bottom.

Jake,
I just did the same thing on the 9th of this month. I went in and renewed it for 3 years and bought hosting as well with Network Solutions. I tried to log into my site and I couldn't. I thought I just had the wrong password or username so I clicked on the link to have them send me my password. That is when I found out someone else had already purchased it. Sheeesh! Now I just paid for someone elses site. I called Network Solutions and they said my domain's renewal time ended a few hours before I did the renew. The guy had it setup to buy it the exact second it expired. They told me they would refund me. I should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. I waited 2 days and sent them an email with the renewal code on the subject line stating all that happened and was wondering about my refund. Waited 2 more days and called again. The guy I talked to said there was no record of a refund headed my way. Now I go through the whole thing again.... after about 45 minutes on the phone the guy finally figured it out. He said I will get a refund on the purchase of the domain name for sure, and he would send a request to the "Hosting" dept. and I may get a refund from them. Be patient he says, "Will take up to 10 business days to see anything credited back to my Credit Card". WOW! What a mistake I made by not looking deeper into the domain status. Should I have renewed the day before I did there would have been no problems. I emailed the guy who now owns the site and cannot get a response from him.
GOOD LUCK
Brian

why can you guys see it and I can't????
Posted by jake snow (Member # 5889) on :
Same reason as before with the hacking problem. Cleared all, rebooted all, all good.
This is why I drink...

I just checked,,You are good to go...
It takes a couple of days for all the DNS servers to update all the information.. Sometimes it takes just a few minutes for some servers,, and a couple days for other servers.. The backup systems are so redundant that they do not clear and change data within minutes.
Clear your browser and cookie cache and your corect page will return.. Why, because your browser stores all data from every web page you visit. That way your web browsing will go much faster and less bandwidth is used. Your browser is pulling info from your cache. You need to refresh your browser..
