I want to use the transparency tool but it is grayed out. What trick do I have to do to get it to work?

Are you talking the interactive transparency tool? Are you sure the object is selected?

Does the object all ready have an effect on it?

yes and no. I am doing up something for a car wash and I selected a bubble background. Inside the background is a white shape with the lettering on it. I wanted to make the white a little transparent so that just a little of the bubbles show thru.

You may be doing this already but I would select the white shape, Click on Effects > click on lens > click on drop down menu > select transparancy > adjust the % figure > click apply. Adjust percentage figure to taste!

Thank yo Arthur. That worked but no the question...how come the transparency tool is still grayed out? Stuff like this has happened quite a bit in Corel 9 and I would get so frustrated. I cwouldn't be able to find an answer in the Corel learning book so I would just do something else that would work but wasn't as catchy.

How did you create the bubble background is it a postscript fill? Ah does not matter try this actually click and drag with the interactive transparency tool and see if it works now for you if that does not work send me a piece of the file with the effect that you can not figure out why it does not work. I will then maybe be able to figure what's going on.

Did you check the Undo Levels? The default is something like 99; but that's really too many. You shouldn't need that much. You probably have lots of memory, but I'd check it anyway.
