We are having a problem with our Sabre. It is cutting a 1/16" too deep(into the table)when cutting through.I am doing a male cut and z initializing from the table. It's the same as I've done for years. If I cheat and tell it that it is 1/16" less it cuts right to the table. Everything else cuts fine, but they are intialized from the material.

I might be wrong but in the setup somewhere is it typed in to add 1/16" when you are setting the specs. in the computer?

Have you milled the table recently? Just a thought here, but maybe the table is not quite true to the gantry.
Also what kind of shape is your initializing guage in?

Is it an isolated occurance? Might just need a re-boot. Also, when we upgraded to omega, we solved a lot of gliches we were having.
And as a note, according to the ladies at the round table, it's very unusual for a male tool path to be longer than expected. [Rolling On The Floor]

As I remember the Sabre I used to run, when we initalized to the table we used a small (1/16" - 1/8") piece of plex that the software took into account when we hit initalize Z. Just a 3" x 4" or so piece that we slid on the table top underneath the bit till contact was made. Perhaps a setting was changed on yours?

FYI

Call 800-828-5406 - have the S/N of the Sabre on hand for the receptionist.
A service Notification will be created and we'll contact you. Will there be a "charge", I don't know, thats not my end of the biz.

It's strange because it's only on the cut out, the lettering is fine, so I don't think it is a physical problem(table, gauge etc.). Our gauge is brand new. I was thinking of reinstalling artpath but I can't find the disk. I would like to save a call to gerber as a last resort, last time I called it cost $45.00 for them to tell me to wiggle some wires.

Eric, in the male dialog for the cutout generation is the "Surface Reference" set to material or table ? Is this different then the other toolpaths ? Also what version of ArtPath (see about box)

Tony the version is 6.00.29. I don't see the "surface reference" anywhere.

OMG, 6.0 ???

That version did not have surface ref so it's not that. No sure where to look now.
