I was presented with an opportunity today that seems to good to pass up. A fellow in the area that makes a lot of dimensional letters has decided to close up his business. He has to clear everything out of his shop by the end of the year. I went to pick up some trim pieces he had made for me and he pointed out the pile of 1/4" black acrylic mirror gold ocotolux (aluminum) that is left over from a job a couple of years. There are at least 200 (maybe 300) pieces 11" x 36" with 3 holes drilled in them. They could be cut to yield 11"x30" without any holes. Both the black acrylic side and the gold mirror side are fully protected with plastic. Unlikely very many scratches on any of it. He told me I could have it all for $100.

I do a lot of interior office signs. Both dimensional reception logo displays for tenants and tenant suite signs for the property managers. I am sure I could use some of it but 600 to 1000 square feet is a lot of material.

I am looking for some ideas as to how you might use this material. I have access to a lot of resources to cut or finish the material by router, engraver, laser engraver, screen print. Anyone have some creative ideas as to how I could turn this much material into signs and $$$$$. I don't really want it to sit in the corner of my shop for the next 5 years. I already have lots of material doing that.

And by the way....Merry Christmas to all.

Chuck..my advice???

If YOU can't imagine or think of a use for the stuff, and it has been sitting around at the other guy's place without being used...

Save your money and buy yourself or your wife something useful or tasty for Christmas.

Find some big hospitals that need donor walls. Have them cut into name-plates and laser engrave the gold. As more donors come over the years, your pile will slowly dissapear.

Good idea Darryl. These things would make great plaque like signs. Anyone have any other ideas how I could burn through so many pieces?

P.S to Darryl....Just where is Underwood, Ontario?
