I have to do a 9'x14' (overall size) illustration for a customer that will be mounted on a sheet rock wall. The background of the illustration needs to be painted out the same color as the wall which means it will have to get latex.It needs to be thin (1/8")and will also have to be cut out in a shape, so I have to have something fairly easy to cut. I'm thinking pvc, but will the latex bond to it?
Any other ideas are more than welcome.
And no, they can't have it painted directly on the wall. They need it removable.

are you spraying the latex or brushin? The surface is best if it's "broken" a scotch brite pad works great in an orbital sander.

I've tried both enamelcoat on the pvc, and also prepping by scotchbrite pad with laquer. I have had success with both, but would try them out on a sample with your paint and do a test.

Latex adheres very well to pvc from what I've done so far...usually spray on for me, no primer, usually gloss, but flat should work fine as well.
When I first tried painting pvc, I went through alot of contortions, priming with XIM, bonding primers, etc, until I figured out all that was unnecessary. I can spray gloss latex, and tape over it when dry, and not have any lifting. To me that means it's stuck pretty good.

You could also use 1/8" masonite (hardboard). it might weigh more, but cost less, and i don't think it expands and contracts as much as the plastics.

why not printed on 14 oz. banner material & trimmed to shape? just attach to wall with velcro strips & be dun with it - just an idea - may not work for your application. . .

Usually either Ben Moore Impervex (if gloss) or their green label (if flat). I also use American Tradition by Valspar... they claim a lifetime warranty if you use 2 coats.
