Hi,
I have Corel 8 and it seems when I try to give someone a CDR changed to .AI or PDF to open on thier Mac it does'nt open. Is this a problem others have? Is there a program I can get to export from that will convert from CDR to any other file? I'm wondering if the filters in corel 8 are good or not.

Jerry...When you send the files as AI are you making sure that you check the box that says that the destination computer is a Mac?

Edited to say that CorelDraw 8 is kinda an older program and their filters have improved.

Also, are you selecting a low enough version of AI so that the other person can open it?

If I remember right, when I was using version 8 I used to always use AI 1.1

You never know how old the other person's software is.

Save your AI's as an older version.

I have CorelDRAW 8 on the Windows computer and just tested it.

I opened a file in Corel, Exported it as an Illustrator (AI) file version 6.0 (you could save it back even further). Doesn't matter whether or not you select the destination as Mac or PC. I had PC selected on mine then I opened the AI file on my Mac using Illustrator CS, no problems.

Jerry if you are using version 8 I would also say it is time to upgrade to version 13 is not far off. I remember when I used version 8 it had a problem when exporting to bmp so bad we just stopped using it.

Hi,
Thanks. I did select mac for saving. And ver.3 was in the field. Their version is 5. I think I've had problems with EPS also.
Too bad my 8 is bootleg. I bought 5 before but do'nt have REG.#

Jerry,

The trouble might be on the other end.
Have them try IMPORTING the file instead of opening it.
In Corel 8, there are 2 kinds of EPS files that can be imported. Without specifying the format, they will just create a grey square with the file name in it. May be the same situation..

Hope this helps...
