I am using Corel 9 and exporting files to eps for cutting in colorcamm. It works fine except that the cut order is all over the page. I assume it is in the order that I added or arranged the items. Is there a way to reset that order to make it cut more efficiently? Thanks. And thanks to Barb for finally being able to fix my login information. [Thanks]

Mike..It's easy.. Select the first item you want to cut and hit shift/pg up. select the next item you want to cut and hit shift/pg up. Continue through the items that way. The first item you selected will cut first and the rest will cut in the same order that you assigned.

What you are doing is re-setting the order in which you created things. (Actually moving each one to the "top of the pile")

Another trick I use especially for several long items is to flip each succeding one so that the cut for the second one starts where the first one stopped.

That reduces the amount of back and forth movement.

Hmmm... must be something built into flexi. No matter what the order, my Roland cuts a foot or so from edge to edge then continues on in like segments. In other words, it would cut NOSN then MIKE then the other NOSN then the last MIKE. Then it would feed that out and continue with another segment.

Sometimes I do what Dave says, sometimes I cut and paste into a new document in the order I want them cut to nest them myself.

edit: spelling [Mad]

Cool tip Dave, I'll have to try that. Signlab offers you loads of options on cutting however I generally forget to go into that submenu.

Vinyl Master Pro has a tool in the spooler
to mimnimize travel of the knife
It starts at the default corner and works
its way from one contour to the next..
relative to the origin

Cocut has a order of operations setting too. makes it really nice.. Just tick the box once when u set it and away you go ..

Hey, where's Rick B? ...OK, I'll cover... GERBER OMEGA allows you to click once on "sequence plot" & everything you ever plot (untill you change that setting) will travel in short rows across the width of the vinyl. Not the best scenario for every situation... but it is ideal for 99% of what I cut.

With it turned off, it follows order of last touched contours like other software, so you can trick it the same way Dave showed for long blocks to work it's way front to back & then still work back to the front, instead of traveling twice as much as needed.
