I just got a call from Kathy. They just got telephone service back. She and Lloyd came thru Katrina fine. She has water but no power and is running a generator. They don't expect to get power back for up to 8 weeks. Kathy said her home and shop were spared. I was so relieved to hear from her. Kathy told me that Ken Holden of Seven Oaks Signs survivied Katrina also. For those of you who don't know,Kathy lives in Pontchatoula,LA which is located just northeast of Lake Ponchatrain not very far from Slidell. Judy

Thanks for the update, Judy. Kathy, I'm so glad you contacted us we were worried. You and your situation is so much heavy on our hearts. Glad to hear from you. I just heard that the US has accepted United Nations help! I just saw. Maybe things will get going. Geez, hang in there, I don't know how they are all coping. This is the worst thing I've ever experienced. There is not a soul that can ignore this, no matter how people are in their own worlds. I just think it's hit every home in the world. stay in touch, please drop us a line when you can, luv, Deb

If I had a choice, I think I'd rather have my shop spared and lost the house. The house has more memories and personal touches, but the shop would enable me to support everything else. I'm glad to hear Gavin's OK also.

Kathy!! So glad to hear you and husband are safe and sound!!
Hundreds of power trucks and Asplund trucks (tree service)everywhere parked in lots here waitin' to move out.
Just watched yesterday as 3 police escorts stopped 12 lanes of traffic and we all sat throught two lights as a military convoy went past. Several flat-beds loaded down with huge power stations, Back-hoes, bull-dozers and crates of supplies as well as gas trucks. I felt like we should have all been in the streets waving flags at them and cheering. I've probably never been happier to miss green lights.

YAY!!!!
Finally got thru to my elderly aunt and uncle in Hattisburg as their land-lines are back up!!
They are safe and sound although they have no gas for their generator, and they can't venture out too much due to low gas in their vehicles.
The power-people are working round the clock to get power to locations where the majority of gas stations are. Power is back up in certain suburbs and where there are gas pupms working the wait in line is two to four hours long.
She said if they don't have gas by the end of the week she'd let me know, but feels sure they will have power back up in main locations by then.
I'm very relieved & thankful to know they're safe.

You're all welcome! I talked to Kathy again today. I forgot to mention that she has a gas stove and is albe to cook. I updated her on Zee,Curtis,Santo and RT. She was concerned about all of them. I also told her about Marty breaking her arm & hip. She told me to tell Marty it was pay back time....Si gets to wait on her for a while. Kathy is very concerned about all the people who are displaced and don't have family and friends there for support. She feels very fortunate to be in her home where she has this support. Judy
