October 13-15 2006 (don't show up THIS October) at Wizard Sign Studio in Suwanee, Georgia and hosted by Sonny Franks and Bob Bretschneider.
In addition to the usual panel jam, gold-leaf demos, airbrushing and pinstriping, we'll also have a tattoo artist (anybody want a Letterhead tattoo across your fanny?) an ice carving demo, a juggling seminar and many more surprises. The city of Suwanee is interested in working with us on a mural project, and we also want to make sure the vinyl jockies are welcome with digital and design seminars planned.
We like the laid-back feel Donald Thompson has established with his last 3 Dixie meets and we're going to continue the tradition. We have several sponsors to cover the food so we'll try to keep the registration FREE. With that in mind, there's NO EXCUSE not to mark your calendars for October 2006 - we're just outside Atlanta so plan on staying a few days - catch a game, a concert, or the Laser Show at Stone Mountain. North Georgia and its Fall foliage should also be peaking then. Come on down (or over, or up) We'll leave the light on for ya......

i'll mark that down on my calender...cool!!!
Posted by Donald Thompson (Member # 3726) on :
I don't know if I could only drive 200 miles to a meet. Maybe when we get close to Atlanta, I will let Ryan drive on the loop around Atlanta for a few hundred miles. I will be there and will help any way I can.
Posted by Judy Pate (Member # 237) on :
Great! Putting it on my calendar...I like having meets close enough to drive. It's 216 miles for me,Donald. See yall there! Let us know if we can do anything to help Sonny! Judy & Roger

That would be spectacular Terry. Can't wait to see you and Bridget and the girls again.
Thanks Judy and Donald, we'll definitely take all the help we can get.
Karyn, Susan, Matt and Kathy- that's a party right there. Hot damn, this is gonna be FUN.
Posted by Ricky Jackson (Member # 5082) on :
Dang it! Are you sure you can't bump that up 365 days? I'll help coat out the panels.
Posted by Sheila Ferrell (Member # 3741) on :
HEY!! It's only 4 hours over there, but it ain't but 3 comin' back!! (lol)
I hate to think I would'nt be there, so, I'm checkin' another date on the calendar.
You letterheads are obssessive.

More of the meet planners and host/hostesses shoud request monitary donations from some of the manufacturers and suppliers, Rapid Tac will be up for that as well as free sample hand outs !

Sonny,ya know for sure,if at all possible,I'll be there, long as it doesn't interfere with my fall racin' schedule.BTW what kinda mural are you guys talkin about??????? Sounds like alot of fun,...but then ain't tha Dixie meets always fun!

...Hey Sonny, I DON'T FEEL LIKE waiting over a year for this ! ! !
...However, since I have to.., by then the 'head "momentum" should be tremendous!
Posted by George Perkins (Member # 156) on :
Sounds great!!! Sign Circus is mighty appropriate, what with all the clowns and freaks that normally show up
Posted by Sonny Franks (Member # 588) on :
George, you're absolutely right - let's just call it what it is! I hope you'll be there and we get to meet your new bride.
Roger, as always, your generosity is overwhelming. My Rapid-Tac hat is still my favorite. We'll definitely be in touch.
Ricky, it does seem a long way off, but everyone who's given us advice said to go at least a year in advance. I started looking at the upcoming schedules and things are booking up fast. There are 3 meets next month, so it appears Letterheads has switched to high gear. I'm worried about containing my excitement for that long.
Timi, I could turn you and Sheila loose on the mural knowing the finished product would be mind-boggling. Once the design is completed, can you help us on the layout?
Posted by Don Coplen (Member # 127) on :
I can't miss this one. I've been waitin for you to host a meet since the first time I met you. One of my favorite people in the world!
Sounds like a blast already.

Haven't checked yet, but I think they've moved Octoberfest next year to be sometime in October. I think a lot of folks are upset about the schedule change, so you're not alone.

OP, I've been around here for quite a while and can honestly say that I don't know a single person who don't like you. A lot who disagree with your views, but none that don't like you.
See ya at the circus!

Sonny; Sounds like the makings of another fine event, one I'd like to attend. If the past is an indicator, I'll reserve option to say I'm coming till such time I can guarnatee that statement, so far this year, I'm batting zip.....hopefully that will change by then, it isn't like it's just around the corner or something..... Don, speak for yourself, personally I find OP very likeable....fooled ya huh? Never met the man personal like, but his deameanor and personalitity speak volumes of his stature here...always a pleasure to DEBATE anything w/Joe, find him a wealth of knowledge and useless trivia,LOL, like Bruce, I delight in "lighting" him up.....OP's OK by ME!!! Now...why is the killer's face on your artwork? Can't for the life of me concieve anything we are about that he might have the remotest relationship to...

Frank, I thought that Jerry Lee was the killer. Am I wrong?

Now!!! Jerry Lee, until her married his first cousin, was the "Killer." Still feel the electricity when I hear one of his hard-hitting songs, his piano work was incredible...his pic would have made total sense...heheh, sorta poetic also...lol...the rebels most of us are...

It's a long way off, but we'd sure like to have a shot at coming. Perhaps someone can teach us a few southern words to bring home with us too.
Posted by Hugh Potter (Member # 5748) on :
Sonny, doubt i'll be able to make it, but one thought,
since it's an international event now, a little thought into the wording of the original post may be required,
you said, quote : (anybody want a Letterhead tattoo across your fanny?)
now in the Uk an fanny is a lady's front bottom !!! rofl when i read that !!
Posted by Dan Hanson (Member # 4000) on :
Sonny, I'm looking forward to this meet. I will be there and helping anyway I can. The Dixie Meet is always interesting and lots of fun.
Rick...see Sheila for any southern words you'd like to take home. She may charge you, though.

Who's the 'fighter guy' Donna?? LOL, I think that's OJ . . .he's the 'killer' guy.
(disclaimer: Sorry I made a joke about that . . . . . )
(not)
Sonny, I'd be honored to help in anyway I can! I bet Timi would too, but I won't speak for him.
Boy if everyone who wants to can make this meet it's gonna be awesome!!! There's so MANY of y'all I've been anxious to meet!!!!!!
PS: Sonny, please note all Waffle House locations nearest the meet especially for Dan, Judy, Kevin, Timi, & I . . .

Posted by Sonny Franks (Member # 588) on :
Don't worry - we'll have an officially designated Waffle House for the meet.
Dan, thanks for your continued support of Letterheads. Glad to know you'll be there and can help translate for Sheila.
Rick, just hop in the car and pick up Frank along the way - you could also visit Jake while you're on this side of the country.
Hugh - guess we better change that to "ARSE"
With Sandy and the Butlers, we'll have an Indian and some Indianans.
Donna,as Sheila said, that's O.J. - I tried to incorporate many of the most recognizable cultural icons that have influenced me (us) over the years, for better or worse. I was trying to think of someone to put over "carvers" and he came to mind. Also included are Bill the Cat (my favorite) and Mr. Natural from the old Zap Comics and R. Crumb days.(Judy thought it was Si) Rhett and Scarlett seemed appropriate for a Southern meet, and the clown at the top is a really creepy picture from a Sturgis Bike Rally t-shirt. We also have Elvis, Einstein, Goofy, Homer and King Tut. Red Baron Snoopy is flying the plane with the banner (hard to see on such a small print)
BTW, I'll be doing the seminar on Plagiarism.

Sonny, You mean that ain't Si??? Hahahahahaha! How 'bout the late great Ray Charles or Otis Redding (Sitting On The Dock of the Bay)in OJ's place. At least Ray Charles was born here in Albany and Otis Redding was born in Dawson,Ga.(just 20 miles from here). Click here to enjoy the song: Otis Redding, Sittin' on the dock of the bay Just a suggestion from the peanut gallery! Judy

I like your idea Judy. Ray and Otis both have Georgia roots, but what about the hardest working man in show business, Mr. Dynamite, Mr. PleasePlease, the Star of the Show, Macon's own JAMES BROWN (insert crashing cymbals, funky horn section and floor split here)
I wouldn't mind putting Jimi Hendrix in there too. Maybe we should take a vote - Ray, Otis, James or Jimi ?????
Posted by Kathy Joiner (Member # 1814) on :
Sonny, it is difficult for me to choose between Ray and Otis. Their styles are completey different, but I loved them both. But, the meet being in Georgia, I'll have to vote for Ray Charles because his rendition of Georgia CANNOT be beat.

Dang, Sonny. You really DID it, huh? Yer Comitted! ... Gettin' ME to another meet (You SAID you'd do it! GOOD for you!!). Damnation & Bless Your Heart. too.
I actually 'came up' in the world with a newer-ish car a week ago. (The Gal's got better Wheels!) And isn't it appropriate, that now, I don't need to drive? *hoots* The Bigger Spirit above takes care of us. Blessings Abound!!!
Now, about the meet: I'll email you directly, Sonny. And ALL Y'all know... I'll be able to add some "Mason/Dixon Gumption" to this meet...not to mention Sheila's "English to Southern" dictionary. *LUV IT*
And Youze Guys can BET on it. *Yanks need NOT fear...*
*S* Yes. I sit on the fence. Damn pickets... Owwies.
Always and anything I can do. I'm yours for Dixie '06, Sonny.
Luv & Hugs

Bill, you and Jane come on down - Dixieheads are good folks - we're even nice to Si and OP. Greg, sounds like you'll fit right in. Don, "Georgia" was actually a Hoagy Carmichael song (Ray just did it better)

I want to be there too! I love the poster you got for it. Alfred E. is my hero!
Hey Joe Pribish, I want one of those things! I've been wanting to get a truck like that. Not to make "instant" signs per se, but to have all my tools with me when I do work a sign job somewhere. I hate getting there and leave something behind! Got to run back and get it. This way I got my "shop" with me!
And of course, the "bill-board" value comes in handy! I don't think I want to paint it like you got it, I was thinking more of putting some artwork and flames on it. What do you think of these trucks tricked out with flames across the hood and side, and some "spinners" on the wheels?
Get a good power supply set up in there for your power tools and air compressor.
I see you have an awning on the side, so I am guessing you are at car shows too?
