It's less than a month away and I know that some of you have forgotten to send in your reservations. I need to get a head count. So who all is planning on attending this gala celebration?

For you horse lovers, not only is the Budweiser Clydesdales will be here but also the Overland stagecoach from Delmar, IA

If you are not sure about where to stay, the local YMCA told me that they could house some signpainters and use there shower facilities. Of course you would have to bring bedding and towels.

There is some locals that have indicated that we could use their vacant apartments. These apartments would not be furnished, but at least have space to crash and showers.

So, don't let sleeping arrangements get you away.

See ya there.

Hey Mikey,

I will be coming down for sure, I just don't know exactly when I will be blowing into Aledo. I hope I can make it for the whole gig? I have a few hundred students to train in the first two weeks of September. Then I will load up the iPod music box and head south.

Please reserve me a place to crash and shower. Or just a place to pitch a tent near running water. Doubt if i'll sleep much anyway.

Also, let me know which mural you are working on so I can volunteer for one of the other ones!.........just messin' with ya...you know I love ya! Actually, if you need help with anything during the event, just give me a holler.

I will try and send you some money soon...but I left most of it in Manhattan.

Looking forward to seeing you again....soon!

I'm there. Maybe Thurs-Sun, maybe Fri-Sun, depends on how persuasive I can be with a few professors [Smile] , but hey--it's like a mini-internship, right [Smile] [Wink]

Looks like I will be there...flying into Peoria Weds, will hook up with Dave Parr and drive out to meet Thurs. Thanks to Dave for suggesting this, as I probably wouldn't have been able to make the meet otherwise...gas prices are hurtin me on a trip like this...it would have run $500 just for gas out there and back, plus 4 days of driving...

Looking forward to seeing everyone...and meeting some new friends !!

Sorry Jeff, but Suzy's already been spoken for.

Hi Mike,
My wife can't find anyone to work for her at the hospital yet so I can't say I'll make it unless she lets me come alone! I'd love to be there and sling paint on the walls. Maybe I can make it for part of the meet. Still got my fingers crossed.
Hope to see you there.
Sign-cerely, Steve Luck

Posted by Michael Clark (Member # 2268) on :

Steve,
Just tell your wife that you will be in good hands and we'll care of you. I can probably find you a place to crash. You'll just have to bring an air mattress, sleeping bag, towels, etc.

Just let me know, cause the more we have here the bigger the party will be and the more fun we'll have.

Since you have never been to a Letterhead meet just reinforces the decision that you have to come.

How about a recap on the time, location, $$$, other activities (think there is a celebration going on at the same time?)and info on registering.

I could run a search, but a refresher of the details in this thread might be helpful to several of us. Unfortunately, I cannot visit the BB as often as I would like to keep up on things.

Pam, http://www.letterhead.com/meets/wall/reg.htm
or go to the future live meets and check out the info there. It is Sept. 15-18th. It is Aledo's sesquicentennial weekend at the same time with all kinds of stuff going on in town...antique market, entertainment in the park, (Suzi Bogguss?), dance, parade, fireworks, and the usual Walldog antics! Project leaders are Nancy Bennett, David Butler, Steve Estes, Dave Correll and Bill Masters. With crazy Michael Clark at the helm....who knows what exactly to expect! heehhehee

If you have anymore questions, just drop me a line.

Thanks,

The big town of Aledo is really starting to talk about all the signpainters that will be invading their town in Sept. There are a few people that think this will be the highlight of the Sesquicentennial. I tend to agree with them.

I even think it's bigger that the Budweiser Clydesdates coming to town.

The town is really starting to spruce up. They are in the process of putting in antique street lamps. The bandshell is curently under construction in Central Park. People are renovating their storefronts and things are hopping.

Jeff Lang from AMAL will be here all the way from Pennsylvania.

Can't wait for the party to start!!!!

Hey Michael,

You want we should do a panel? Ya'll havin an auction at this here do'ins?

Let me know & I'll see what I can do for ye.

c-ya

Hey Dale,

Right now what's planned is that the Sesquicentennial committee has planned an auction of some historical Aledo items and banners that I had done. This auction is planned for Saturday night during the dance.

What we could do is have some project panels to auction off and have the money go to the Sign Museum or some other worry cause.

So, I just decided, that's what we'll do. Nothing like putting off a decision. You heard it here first. Any item that we auction off, the proceeds will go toward the American Sign Museum.

Green Dragons....Suzie Boguss

The Green Dragons won their first game yesterday
34-20 over a team from Chicago. They still play very well, but at least they won.

I will try to reserve a spot for the Letterheads in the grandstand. At halftime the Aledo Fire Dept. will shoot off the fireworks. Should be a real neat show.

Pontiac Indians 48 -- Herscher Tigers 0

You got to love high school football. I'm more excited about the game than the meet. What meet?

Well other than that Boguzz, Boguss what's her face.

Hey Michael,

Just putting the finishing touches on a panel for the upcoming Walldog event in Beautiful Downtown Aledo. You do have a downtown there right? Oh yeah...complete with bright street lights, correct?

Anyhooo, this panel has an Aledo 150 years theme....might be a good one for the Sesquicentennial Committees Auction. All for you Mikey...All for you Buddy!!!

Leave a light on for me cause I'll see you soon.

Well, it's four more days until the party begins. Everything is coming together. The town is getting pumped up about the invasion. It's so exciting and it's going to be a great time.

If you haven't made the decision to come yet, now is the time. I can find a you a place to stay. I know with the price of gas things are a little tight. But you know what they say about putting a price on a great time, it's priceless.

Jill Butterfield has arrived early to help me out, bless her soul.

The number of walls have increased to 6 with Mike Meyer jumping in as a project leader.

So, there is no reason not to venture to Aledo, Illinois for the time of your life.

David Butler emailed me the wall he's doing......WOW it's going to be another masterpiece! I'm sure there will be many more, come on down and join the fun...!!!

Green Dragons!

Mike The Green Dragons are rocking. They beat the biggest school in the conference last friday night by the score of 35-14. Macomb is twice the enrollment as the Green Dragons.

I have received all the rough drafts for the walls and they all rock. It will be a blast and the weather is going to be terrific. It's going to cool down to the 70's by Friday.

See you real soon.

Ah the smell of paint, turps, coffee and a morning cigarette on a beautiful first day of fall. The shadows are longer in the early morning and the colors are talking to me. The dogs are about to gather in this small town and have their way with a few walls. When the dogs arrive these towns are changed forever. Townsfolks are going to well up with pride as they see their familiar surroundings transform as the next few days arrive.

Sure we're just a part of a bigger picture, but something special happens to a town after the dogs have been there. It dawns on the locals that talented people from far and near are fussing with the place they live. At first they'll be surprised by the level of expertise and enthusiasm exhibited by the walldogs, but as the weekend progesses they will be taken in by the experience. They well embrace the dogs and the dogs will once again leave their mark along with their visions.

The walldog happening is a unique life adventure for the towns that host them and for letterheads alike. Thereh is an exchange of cultures that enriches all who share in the experience.

This is why I'm goin' walldoggin' in Aledo. Hope to see you there.

Good words there Bill, Looking forward to seeing you there. Looks like the weather is going to be excellent for this event. I am more used to mural painting in very hot and humid weather but i'll try and adjust.

Folks, if you are within a few thousand miles of this little town you should toss a few things in a bag and head to Western Illinois. There is no other experience quite like a Wall Dog event. As Bill says above, it changes the landscape and personality of the town, and the painters of the town....join in!

Let's see...chocolate, Ipod. speakers, clementines, cooler with refershments.....oh yeah I might need a brush?

c-ya there

We are leaving EARLY in the morning! We have the welcome banner, Michael, so you better get up early to put it up.
We are excited! Can't wait to see everyone!(There's no jumping up and down, yelling hooray Graemlin, so this will have to do!)

Walldogged all day in Minneapolis and can't wait to dip my brush in Aledo.Yippee!

Jane, Can't wait to see you too, baby!
I know that you probably see this message before you leave. Drive safely.

All the project leaders have arrived and have projected some of the walls. Andy & Laurie Goretsky had truck trouble and are stranded in Dixon, Illinois. Hopefully they can get their truck fixed in short order.

The town is all excited and can't for the painters to start slinging paint. There is still time for anyone if they want to venture to Aledo and be a part of this great event. I ordered extra shirts and I can still find a place to stay if you want to come. Just call me!!!

All roads lead to Aledo, it's just a little out of the way, but will be well worth the trip.
