I'm well ahead of the curb, but just wanted to officially announce the dates for our International Letterhead meet.
August 1-3 we'll probably do a Wed-Sunday thing, but that's technically July 30-Aug.3 2008
It's time to finally lock-in this date for planning.
I'd really like your comments on what you like, or don't like at meets. -Plan on coming on over!

Matt, Count on Maris and I. It is only 1 hour drive to Hudson for us and we can help. Also, check in on Mark Lebo. He is a terrific guy, although not heavily involved in L'heads right now, he was VERY involved with the local group we had going during the 80's.
One of my favorite meets recently was the one in Tomahawk. The huge ice arena venue made it possible to watch, and participate in MANY projects simultaneously, and the seminars were close at hand so people could fit many into schedule. I also liked the way several people brought unfinished large projects of their own to work on during the meet. This made for GREAT impromptu seminars. Quite different than the smaller projects usually encountered in the panel jam area.
Another great concept at the first Mazeppa meet, and also at John Parker's in Iowa - Dimensional/Carving project area had several major projects being worked on simultaneously, plus materials and tools to "tryout", like small knive carving, dreml tool work, small hand router, and lots of people to guide you if you needed, because the location of the large projects in close proximity to the "practice" area.
Just my thoughts. Every meet has it's own flavor and good and not so good parts. I'm sure we'll have a GREAT meet in Hudson!

Oh! And one more terrific idea. At a meet at Superfrog's a few years ago, Butch had a t-shirt airbrush station set up. About 6 airbrushes hooked up at the same time, with all the colors set out so people could airbrush their own meet t-shirts which were printed with JUST black outline design. It was a HUGE hit! And I think he sold lots more shirts as people got more excited about trying out different techniques in decorating them. (And ruined a few too!) Plus less expensive for a 1 color print on shirt to begin with.

Matt,
I will be there to help! I'll also send you notes from the last Muster. I would like to work with you in the planning stages if you want to.

Fantastic Everyone:
Truly appreciate the support. This is how it all happens. I'll gladly take suggestions and try to incorporate as much as possible. I've been contemplating a meet for some time now, and everything is so far lining up well.
Keep the suggestions coming, I've been able to help out with a few meets. From that I've been stashing away feedback, ideas, and challenges.
We'll be busy and in no time it'll be here.

Hey Matthew,
You know I'm in!
Also, I think I have something belonging to you brought by none other than Mr. Felix Marcano. It got left at my house so it wouldn't get drunk in Mazeppa.
I'll give you a call this week.

I'm in. When Lindsay and Hunter hear about this one, I'm sure they'd like to get over that way as well. Glad to hear you got your date locked in. See you soon. Hope they start giving away the U2 tickets on the radio soon, so there is still a shot a seeing them in Sept!
