I have a small (2' x 3')oval painting (artist acrylic paint) that will be attached to a larger sign for a new development.

What should I use to protect and seal the surface of the painting before it's mounted? [I Don t Know] They would like it last for 3- 4 years.

Don't clear coat, the acrylics should be better without any uv clear.

John I disagree!!

I always clear coat my acrylic murals and signs using an acrylic UV clear.

Some of my "sepia" (burgandy) murals have been facing full Australian "outback" sun all day for 7 years now without any sign of fading.
