Just got "Brush Lettering Step by Step" by Jim and Bobbie Gray. Found it on Ebay with "brush lettering" search. 128 pages, profusely illustrated, most in color. Sections on tools/brushes, layout, kerning, tricks of the trade, and alphabets.
Excellent basic book for the beginner. Primarily casual script instructions for acrylic and 1Shot enamels. Guide to brushes, paints, alphabets, precise step by steps.
Put it together with one of the Speedball books by Ross F. George and the beginner should have all the basic info he/she needs to get started learning to brush letter.
Just thought I'd throw this in here for the interested.
There are more copies on ebay today 05-26-05 search "brush lettering" all catagories. Got mine for $10.00 + shipping in new condition. Retails for $22.99

One of the first book's I bought was "Sign Painting Techniqes" by Ralph Gregory while I was learning to brush letter. I also got one called "Brushstrokes and Freestyle Alphabets" by Dan x. Solo (published by Dover).
The old "SignCraft's" used to display different fonts signartist's developed, and showed the stroke sequences, perhaps they have an achive of old articles online?
