Has anybody tried to draw an ambigram? That's a word that reads the same upside-down, or at an angle, or in a mirror or at some other orientation. Some beautiful examples are here:
These are by John Langdon for the novel _Angels & Demons_, the "prequel" to _The Da Vinci Code_. More great hand-lettering and logo designs are at Langdon's website:
First ambigrams I ever saw were in Omni magazine around 1980. I sent the article to SignCraft, but never heard of ambigrams again anywhere, until just now. Today you can browse the web for lots of them. Seems that Langdon is one of the pioneers, along with Scott Kim:
Here is one that I always liked. It was designed by Joe Selame, from Newton Mass. It reads the same rightside up or upside down and also has the letter "H" formed between the two words. Posted by Rick Sacks (Member # 379) on :
Jer Barlow and Carl Rohrs have designed and completed some as projects at Letterhead meets that were some very hot calligraphy. I wish I had photos to show you. There is one of Barlow's on the wall at Product Sign Supply in Sacramento. Perhaps someone over there could get one and post it.

A while back Dave Simpson at Sign DNA was putting together some ambigrams...don't know the status of that project--maybe one would want to contact him about it?
