Like we have too much time on our hands or something?...anyhow...we (Suse, Shilo and myself) are going to the first ever Letterheads meet in Greece (Parthenon 2005)and are getting pretty anxious about it to say the least. So... http://www.davidbutler.com/greece.html Posted by Nancy Beaudette (Member # 1983) on :

I sent in my registration to Periandros last week - any seats left in the club car? Terry Colley and lovely wife Bridget said they would stock some Guinness for the ride. ALL ABOARD.

LOL CAN THIS TRAIN FLY?
Posted by Periandros Damoulis (Member # 4473) on :
This train is really wonderful..!! and.....fly...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Sheila Ferrell (Member # 3741) on :
THANX DAVID!! You really know how to 'deck-out' a train!! He even used our member numbers on the boxcars!!
Gonna soon try to attach a pic of my daughter who will be traveling with me!!
Now ...let's see... I know THREE Greek words...
~ya'sue (Means goodbye if you're leaving and I THINK also hello if you're arriving...
~pap'ootsie...(but does that means shoe or watermelon?)
~Ritsina (sp?) (Greek 'moonshine' that makes vodka seem like water?)
My parents were stationed there for about 10 years (1950 something through 1963, when we came to the states and I was only one. But when I was growing up my dad kissed my mom goodbye every single morning and they said 'yasu' to one another . . .
There was a clear glass jar which held about a half a pint of Ritsina(sp) which I suppose my Mom smuggled back with her...it set on a top shelf in the kitchen cabinet for years and years...it was highly potent and I'm amazed that it did'nt melt the glass...I think my brother tried to drink it in 2003 when my Mom died.
I have lots of old black and white photos of the white stucco houses with wrought iron where they lived, and of the parties my parents had on the beach roasting lambs...

Hello fellow travellers. I found a site with a few lessons in greek that might be worth checking out....
I didn't see the word 'train' anywhere...Hummmm
Posted by Scott Telfer (Member # 3949) on :
If you could stop by Glasgow Central Station and pick us up it would be appreciated... Do they serve alcohol on this train....ach we'll bring a couple of bottles of Malt just in case...
What a summer this is going to be.....
Posted by Nancy Beaudette (Member # 1983) on :
You know I heard a rumour that we might have to swing this train through Boise Idaho before heading across the big pond!
Posted by Periandros Damoulis (Member # 4473) on :
I have full the train tank and going to Boise.....for two passengers..??
Posted by stewart mclaren (Member # 2737) on :
Any chance that when you pass by glasgow central , ,you could stop off at Stirling, and make some room for Avril, Sam ,Andrew, Lisa and myself as we will be waiting on platform 1 ,, we will have our tickets ready for collection
Posted by david butler (Member # 591) on :
I dunno David, but the sky looks just right for the trip, and the dogs ready to go . . .do you suppose there are other's that are waiting to board??
Posted by Nancy Beaudette (Member # 1983) on :
David, I can't believe someone would take my flag! You know this trip wouldn't be near as much fun without a few Canadians on board. So are you going to give me a clue?
Posted by Kimberly Zanetti (Member # 2546) on :
Hahahaha...I'd better get Dusty a passport if she's gonna go with you guys. Make sure and take good care of her - lots of love - and she'll protect you.
Unfortunately, Pennsylvania is as far east as I'm gonna get this summer. :-)
Posted by david butler (Member # 591) on :
Looks like you are going thru Chicago, from the building in the skyline.
Posted by Nancy Beaudette (Member # 1983) on :
oH MY goD....you're so funny David!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a riot! Do you really think that Boisian will be able to catch up to the train!
Posted by Elaine Wallis (Member # 969) on :
Jeff & I and our kids, Kate and Mark are looking forward to our first ever trip over the big pond!! I'm anxiously awaiting my pkg for the mural project that we'll be working on and Jeff is gearing up to talk about making signs and making money! My brother who is a world traveller made a funny comment when he heard we would be in Greece in August. He said, "there won't even be a thread of shade!"
See ya there! Elaine
Posted by david butler (Member # 591) on :
Periandros, at the throttle, has got this train rolling so get ready folks..and we mean all of you...you don't need a ticket to get on board with the fun here so pay attention...you just might win yourself a "MAJOR PRIZE" along the way. Elaine we'll pick you and yours up at our next stop so be ready.
LOL~uh-oh! . . .the pup quit pushin'...he looks pretty incredulous... . . .it's all on you now Peri . . .
Hey y'all!... What town are we in now??
Posted by Nancy Beaudette (Member # 1983) on :
We've picked up two more passengers. Carole and Catherine, from Williamstown, Ontario, will be travelling with us to Greece. When I told them the first leg of our journey would be on a train, they were just a tad mystified...but always the adventurers, these girls simply said, "Why not!"
Posted by david butler (Member # 591) on :
This train is still running and we're still boarding passengers and having some fun. Jane Diaz was the winner of our first contest and as a result of that we are stopping this train in her town of Pontiac, Illinois for a spell. So if you would like for us to bring this train to your town next simply be the 3rd person to answer this question correctly and we'll have Periandros engineer this train your way. Contest #2...name the prison that is forever immortalized with these lyrics "I hear that train a coming it's a rolling round the bend"
Hey David, What a ride! Glad to see my flag back, but never know where the link will take me next. I think I know the answer to train question #2. Where do I post my answer?
Posted by Sheila Ferrell (Member # 3741) on :
Folsom prison . . .

Folsom Prison
Posted by Judy Pate (Member # 237) on :
3rd guess : Folsom Prison
Posted by david butler (Member # 591) on :
Judy...pretty creative voting...it's worth bonus points in some parts of the world I'm sure...just not here. Don Coplen was our winner with his third place correct answer of Folsom Prison. Now you all should know that you don't have to be going to Greece to play this game...you just have to have a sense of humor...and a computer...and a maybe a dog..and that's all you need. So stand by while we figure out what to do next. http://www.davidbutler.com/greece.html Posted by Sheila Ferrell (Member # 3741) on :
lol Judy . . .
David...I have questions . . .
To where else do you want answers sent in...? Or, are you going to moniter your e-mail, PM's, IM's, and this thread simultaneously for 3rd-person answers? Is there a 1-800 call-in line?? Is the train goin' all the way down to Florida now?? Can we please stop in Albany and pick up Judy??
(I don't really care...I'm just yankin' yer chain)
Posted by david butler (Member # 591) on :
Yankin' you say?...I'll have answers for those questions as soon as I can....
Posted by Kimberly Zanetti (Member # 2546) on :
Dusty was wondering if she can have a little dog house on her flat bed there - she said the wind has been terrible.
Posted by Kissymatina (Member # 2028) on :
Where is the bar car????
If I'm gonna be on a train all over timbuktoo on my way to Greece, I'm gonna need a beer.
Posted by Sonny Franks (Member # 588) on :
Don't forget Terry and Bridget Colley from England. Terry has a special project he's been working on, but is currently unable to reveal to us. I won't spill all the beans, but it involves more gold leaf than most of us have ever seen (collectively)
Posted by Frank Magoo (Member # 3950) on :
Sonny, your mention of Terry Colley's name caught my eye...if I've eavesdropped right, he will be in Greece w/you, right?
If you would be so kind as to deliver him a message from me, I'd surely appreciate it.
Message is; Thanks my unknown friend for very gorgerous gold leaf panel you sent me during my fight w/cancer. I take it as gift of love from another during a time when nothing was for sure. With rooms filled with these types of gifts, it was easy to stay positive and eventually win battle w/disease. I truly appreciate your effort on my behalf and will always treasure your gift along w/the others till the end of my time. Thank you very much, I don't remember much from those days and can't remember if I sent you a note of thank you, probably not, so, if Mr. Franks would be so kind as to deliver my message to you, I'll be a happy camper...and finally thank one I'd never be able to if not for seeing your name in Sonny's post. Thank you Sonny...

We are back! And although we still have along ways to go we are happy that more of you folks are boarding this train to Greece. We are really happy to be in charge of one of the seminars at Periandros' meet and wanted to let you in on what our show might look and sound like just in case you're interested. We have a little video clip we put together and have had some folks tell us that it works in their computers so if you'ld like to see what I'm talking about...check out the train here and go to the back to that flat bed and click on the big can and see if it works. Thanks http://www.davidbutler.com/greece.html Posted by Sonny Franks (Member # 588) on :
Thanks for the tutorial David. Photoshop is an amazing program that never ceases to amaze with its possibilities.
Frank, I will definitely pass along your comments, but why not meet us in Greece and give Terry a big ol' Letterhead hug in person?
Posted by Frank Magoo (Member # 3950) on :
Sonny, love to, but you know what they say about timing, "it's everything." Too many ongoing projects and one really cool personal matter of great importance to me at this time and place. Maybe next year...thanks
Posted by Nancy Beaudette (Member # 1983) on :
Geeze David, I could listen to that calm, little Indiana boy voice all day. The Greeks are just going to adore you...even if they don't understand a word you're saying. Thank Zeus for translators.
Posted by Dave Grundy (Member # 103) on :
Hi David.. That was sooo cool!
Thanks for taking the time to put that demo together showing the relationship between the comuter world and the real world.
Thanks also for showing how it can be possible, with some work, to to put together VERY understandable "step-by-steps".
