Recieved 35, plus a couple of late entries which will go into the May SOTM.
Top stuff. Wish I could post them all. Maybe at the end of the year I'll burn them all to a cd for Steve to publish or sell.
Also there were more diverse types including windows, walls and banners etc. Made it extremely hard to seperate just 10 for you to vote on.
To make it easier this month. CHOOSE JUST YOUR FAVOURITE. Your comments on that and the rest would be appreciated. That's part of the exercise.
If you are to shy to post here, I will accept e-mail votes. Voting closes April 30.
Here's the first five in no particular order of merit. I can only post 5 at a time.

Number 3 is about the coolest real estate sign I have seen and gets my vote.
And I heard you can't sell realtors nice signs.... maybe even in our town? I'll bet it can even be done here!
There's lots of great entries this month!

I vote for #7...altho #9 was a very close 2nd! the other eight are also worthy of merit!!!
Posted by Catharine C. Kennedy (Member # 4459) on :
They are all amazing, but I'd vote for # 8
Posted by Jon Aston (Member # 1725) on :
Once again, they are all outstanding. (Congratulations to all!).
I'm with Ms. Kennedy...#8.
Posted by Janet Bakewell (Member # 725) on :
#7 for me, followed closely by #5. They're all incredible though... Posted by Ray Rheaume (Member # 3794) on :
#7, but it sure wasn't easy to pick just one.

Man...they ARE all awesome!!
From the one I love a lot, to the one I love the most:
#10 #6 #3 #8 #9 #1 #7 #2 I LOVE the brick surround and the 'star' insets . . .
#5 . . .incredibley dramatic lighting on an incredibley awesome sculpture...
#4 is my first place pick because it's a 3-D sign and the use of the net was such a creative affect, along with those lovely hand-carved letters. . .is that smalts in the background?
Posted by DianeBalch (Member # 1301) on :
#4 with #5 as a close second
All are relly nice!
Posted by Louie Pascuzzi (Member # 1373) on :
They are all pretty awesome, tough choice.
I vote for #4. I'm trying to remember from my religion class, was St.Peter a fisherman, hence the net?
Posted by Sonny Franks (Member # 588) on :
Too nice, I can't pick just one.
Posted by Ken Henry (Member # 598) on :
First place for me, goes to #9. Reason: It's a sign that suits the ride that it's promoting, and it's unusual mounting method compliments it well.
I'd considered #8, but the deep shadows indicate that the lettering is probably raised too much. The photo shows us what that sign looks like from directly facing it, but perhaps a more oblique view might show that the very extremely raised letters would interfere with it's readability, and render it less effective. Tall returns that are the same finish/colour as the face of the letter tend to have this shortcoming.

All of them are really great.
I keep going back to #7 as my favorite.

There were three that I had narrowed it down to, but I kept going back to #1.
Bright colors and shapes without going overboard, grabs your attention, tells you the info in a split second, fits really well to the point of hardly even noticing the breaks in the windows.
I love the layout and wouldn't change a thing. I couldn't say that I didn't wonder about something for the other signs. Very rarely do I look at a sign and not think, hmmm... what if this was different, or that or whatever.
I wonder if that comes from back in sign school, when at the end of the week, we would all pull up the chairs in a half circle around the easel. Then each of our signs would be displayed and critiqued by each other and our instructor. Why does this work? Why doesn't that work? How would you do it differently and why?
You learn alot by listening to other's opinions. Even if you think what you did is perfect... someone might bring up a point that never occured to you, shedding a new light.
Maybe someday I'll do something good enough to enter!!
Great job, everyone!!

I had a hard time picking a favorite because they are all so good. #9 is my vote because of the way the type illustrates the concept. Very clever and fun. The color is great too. About 5 others share second place in my mind.
Posted by Dana Blair (Member # 951) on :
#7. What a combination of various techniques.
Posted by Lotti Prokott (Member # 2684) on :
Decisions, decisions...but I pick # 4. I think it has just the right amount of creativity added and is still conservative enough for a church setting. Well done.
Great job, everyone Posted by Kimberly Zanetti (Member # 2546) on :
#4 is just beautiful and gets my vote. The rest are superb as well.

I guess I'm weird but I really like number 6. The prices seem kinda tiny, but it's hard to tell how far away the copy needs to be read. After that, I like number 9. Shows the scariness of the ride...I'd wanna do it after looking at that sign.

#4 Tastefully and thoughtfully does what it needs to do. I'm impressed by the use of elements.
Posted by Jane Diaz (Member # 595) on :
#4, then #7, then #3. They are all really nice though!
Posted by Jen Goodwin (Member # 3757) on :
#4, after that it gets harder...so, then #9 & then #5.
Posted by Peter Schuttinga (Member # 2821) on :
#7, then #9, then the rest are a close third. Great stuff everyone.
Posted by Patrick Whatley (Member # 2008) on :
I'm voting #2 because it's not a "Sign On A Stick".
Posted by Todd Gill (Member # 2569) on :
#7 followed by #9
They're all pretty darn slick though.
Posted by Mark Neurohr (Member # 2470) on :
I gotta go with #7 & #9.
All really nice stuff everybody!!
Posted by Mark Yearwood (Member # 2723) on :
#5 with #4 close behind.
#5 fits the environment, is creative and original and the lighting sets it off. Not to mention just "fun" looking!
Posted by John Deaton III (Member # 925) on :
7 with 5 very close. All of them are great jobs. Its a shame we have to pick one. Posted by david drane (Member # 507) on :
The vibrant colors in #3 immediately grabbed my attention. A very hard choice to make just the same though. Congratulations to all! And thank you Jon for bringing this feature back.

Very close between #4 and #7 obviously. I have the casting vote if it's still tied.
Voting closes Saturday 30th midnight your time and I'll post the winner here Sunday.
You can start sending in entries for May too! I already have four beauties.

One Dave checking in...
It’s hard to decide an overall favorite because each has its realm where it outshines the others. For elegance, I like six; for coolness, nine; in your face boldness and legibility, one; installation structure, three (unless that guy holding seven is going to do that the rest of his life); use of varied techniques and materials, four; scrollwork, eight; and so forth.
However, I’m a big fan of the work of a monster making, mud slinging, plasma torching, bird welding, mural painting grandpa from B.C., so I gotta go with five.

I gotta know how they got a realtor to pony up for that nice sign!
