looking for names of flame painters 50-70s east & midwest , I'm writing a book about the history of flames , and want to give cdedit to some of the old guys that helped to get flames popular ,let me know if anyone has any names .

Call Glen Weisgerber, he was doing them in the 70s I'm sure, and he knows everyone in the field.

The Alexander Brothers,Darryl Starbird,Jon Kosmoski,Dave Stuckey,Carl Casper,Circus Paint and prob tons more i cant remember off the otp of my head...also names like Pinoli,Cushenberry,Tony Nacny,Jeffries,D'agostino,st. john morton and others

geez Frank, I didn't know those guys were from the east or midwest cept'n for Southard. I hung out with Andy when I was just learning back in the 50's think I was around 12.

Sure hope your book has a whole lotta pictures in it. Especially pictures of the people actually working on them flame jobs.

One of the northeast's best custom painters was Dino Lawrence formerly of Purple Sun Studios in Ct. Now he's at Carolina Signworks. Contact him at:

He was heavy into drag cars, custom cars & vans in the 60's and 70's.

Bart Manley ...last known location Phoenix and Scottsdale Arizona.Did a lot of flame and striping work in the 60's and 70's

If you find him I still have one of his lettering patterns for an old panel truck he had...let him know so I can return it!

I wonder if he still needs it hhahaha [Rolling On The Floor]
