I'm currently working on a sprint car hood and I'm in need of some rippled and ripped checkered flag graphics. I've tried to hand draw some on regular flags that I have, but I can't seem to get them to look right. I've also tried to weld some torn graphics into flags in signlab, but thats not workin either.
Any suggestions on where to look?

John, I have a similar job coming up. I was wondering if you could help me out also. The cuctomer was asking for that rippled checked flag and I was just wondering Where I was going to get reference pics. If thats at all possible that would be much appreciated. Thanks Roger

John,
Send it to me too. That way i'll have it just in case.
I have a few jobs to do too. Could you send me a couple of teeth, a dentist emblem, and a few other dental thingy's you may have.
While yer at it why not make up a new T-shirt design for me too. ya, thats a good idea. Yes, thats the ticket. ya,,,
And before i forget, I need a design for a new sign panel too. Heck, why not just build it for me too.. Yes,, thats a better idea. Just build it and send it to me.. That way I can goto the beach and fish and recreate little while the bikini clad babes walk by.
LOL... Just teasing ya bro...

I'm sorry but there is always someone who has to make some wise crack. I saw the post and have a job coming up in a month that calls for a rippled checkered flag. There's what I'm looking for right in the first post I see today. So I figure why not ask.Thats why I do not post on here like I would like too. Might be all in good fun but I take that last post personally. John Thank You for the file it is greatly appreciated.
Not all of us have the resources or knowledge others do. I don't do this work full time and today I got layed off from my full time job. So the last thing I need to see is someone poking fun at me. I contribute what I can Where I can. I reply to posts only when I have something nice to say or useful information for someone in need. I learnt this the hard way on here. I've made some good friends and meet a lot of talented people by getting out there and going to meets. I find that in general after I meet someone in person I can relate to them more than through a keyboard. Curtis I'm sure you meant no harm but I can't help the way that post made me feel if it was directed at me or not. For now on I'll go to the public library for my reference material. The People there are always nice. I was going to let this one roll off my back. But I'm sick and tired of being afraid to post on this site. The way my day is going you can flame away. Believe you me there is not much left to burn.

Roger...take it as a fun poke at you! BIG difference between poking fun and being vicous!
Check back thru some of the posts...wise cracks is what makes this place fun! Would you rather have these post to be just dry and technical...or an occasional lil jab in the 'funny bone'?
Just my 2 cents worth.

go take a look at my post TRANNY CLIPART....and iam not upset....clipart begging is not something that is accepted really well on here. i dont make a habit of it but some people here will have done jobs and had to use a SPECIFIC piece of clipart....like i asked for...posts that want a U.S. FLAG, STOCKCAR BODY OUTLINE, MIKE PIPES TRIBALS... these are examples of not what to ask for.

Ryan--
Hey! Try checking out www.signdna.com they have a new CD (last year, anyway...) of clip art with a whole section of nothin' BUT ripped, torn and flamin' style checkered flags!! I'm pretty sure you can just buy one or two pieces of art and not the whole CD, if ya want--COOL!
And Dave (at sign dna)is a nice guy and is helpful to everyone!

ok roger,
I beg humbly for your forgivness, even tho I never mention your name. But mentioned jon who I was picking on only because I greatly respect his work.

Si, Thanks for reminding me to lighten up.It's just been one of those days that turned into a couple of months if you know what I mean.
I realize that I'm considered a newbie/lurker/clipart begger/wannabie/ whatevah. Thats fine. The fact is I don't understand half the mumbo jombo you guys talk about on here. I dabble with my airbrush here and there when people want something done.I tell them to bring a good picture of what they want and I'd be glad to do it at the right fee of course depending on what they bring me. Now this next job is different it's a show bike and my reputation is on the line. If The job is not up to standards they're going to take their business elsewhere. I can not afford the loss of income or the damage to my reputation(as a painter anyway). Preparing a head of time ensures that. No matter how good you think you are there is always someone better. Meets have shown me that. This forum just happens to be where the best hangout.
I figure if I get my post count say to 5,000 maybe those labels I listed above will disappear. In the meantime I'll adjust my funny bone and grow thicker skin.

Curtis,
I was typing my response while you where posting yours so I just caught your post. thats weird. I feel like I should be the one apologizing not you. I'm just glad this post didn't go off on a bad track and I am glad everyone had their flame throwers on low because I went out for a couple of beers to cool off and expected to come back to a serious flame job!

Rt, Now that made me laugh outloud. Keep em coming. Get it out of your system now my furry friend your enjoying this way too much! Don't think I won't forget this.
Do you need clip art for cammo or does that paint scheme just come naturally to you?

What, nobody liked my Tranny VectorArt? I'm still laughing about it! Here's one of my favorite panels painted by Roger Himself. He's a real sweetie. He even made a panel for my mom at Dixie last year! Now git back to work. Love....Jill

Sorry to hear the bad new Rodger. What I think is kind of funny is you want to use the image for reference so you can freehand airbrush not to cut on the computer. Good thing your a newbie/lurker/clipart begger/wannabie or you would know you cant do that with out a computer!

Sketch it out and use lots of masking tape. To get the ripped effect, we just tear the tape, it looks great.

Ryan, what do I know I'm just a looooser!
Believe me it did't take me long to figure that out also but I will use in the future especially after all this.
Jill, How is Faye doing by the way? I hope to make your meet in August. Thanks for the kind words.
