I'm always interested in what other people are working on.

Today is an organizational/odds & ends day. I've got stuff to package and ship out, and will be printing some stuff on the versacamm while I pay bills and organize my piles of workorders. Then its materials to be ordered, then I might get some dirty work done!!

We have a variety of projects underway in our shop. I'll spend some time at the design board, and be ordering in some needed materials for projects now OK'd at long last by our customers.

I'll probably spend some time under my welding hat fabricating some frameworks for projects in process in the shop. And of course I will spend a good part of my day making sure the crew stays on track.

The crew is hard at work on a wide variety of jobs. Two are working outside on the facia trim for our building. One is painting the blends and faux aging on the parade float. And the other two are doing concrete theme work.

It's a gorgeous day here on the West coast... with temps going up into the 60's today. The grass is growing, the trees budding, and the blossoms blooming.

The shop doors are swung open wide to let in the sunshine!

It's a grand day!

Sent Bruce off to the airport this morning, off to the meet this weekend in OK. He's got a couple hour layover in Minneapolis, so he gets to have lunch with my folks... I am SOOO jealous!!

As for me, working around the house - tomorrow's garbage day - and running some errands this afternoon. I have 'doggie-school' tonight - conformation class with Toby.

Also am still plugging away at something that resembles a logo for myself. Why is it the hardest doing something for yourself?? I have a few ideas, scribbled around... but just not there yet. Ugh. LOL!! Maybe I can at least come up with a temp idea, enought to print out a page or two of biz cards to get me by for now.

Took the bucket truck out this am to survey a pylon face...Did some standoff proposals...consulted with the staff on some jobs we're working on...catching up on some job costing...now I have to go out an pick up our new standoff catalogues at the printers..."put out fires" as they arrise...we have been very busy and a lot of jobs are behind...gonna finally book the trip to Vegas for the ISA show...et al.
Today is a beautiful sunny spring day, but very sombre as well. Today is the national memorial service in Edmonton, for the 4 young Mounties that were killed by a sniper last week in a nearby community...kind of hard to stay focused on work with all the activity going on and coverage in the media. I think the phones will be quiet today on this national day of mourning.

Today we've printed a couple of sample t-shirts for a car club, one colorful dye sublimated one, one single color cad cut material, also lettering a 4 x 8 alumalite for a local school, a coro 2 x 4 for another school, cutting some lettering for the hospitals directional signs, I have a pickup truck to letter the doors after lunch, about 50 small decals to print, work on a proposal for a doctors office exterior sign, and the best part of today will be going to a customers and take pictures of some boiled crawfish to print on his new signs.....and I'm pretty sure he will have a few cold ones to go along with the crawfish [Big Grin]

Not much signwise today.

Had to change the lift cables on the overhead garage door, they were getting frayed and ready to break. Cold, only about 20 degrees, so I had the big heater cranking, and pointed towards where I was working. A lot of heat going to waste, since the door has to be open to take the tension off the helper springs.

Waiting to get together with a couple of customers on truck work. One has some picture of a log skidder he wants to incorporate into the lettering/layout.

Spending too much time here on the BB.

I met with some clients this morning about another children's museum exhibit project. I'm happy about that because it's always delightfully fun & creative work.

I talked (abit too long) with a customer who was here to pick up some signs and then finished up and sent out some layout sketches for another illuminated sign job.

Amidst some billing and more incoming/outgoing calls, I managed to kick out a logo remake for a client.

Now I need to focus on a political logo for one client and a simple postcard layout for another client's open house invitations. I'm gonna put Oprah on as background noise though, so my attention will be divided. [Smile]

In the shop a sandblasted sign waits patiently for me to get out there to paint it. I had to reschedule two on-site jobs that I couldn't get out to today. One to clear coat a window digital print I did a couple weeks ago, and another to take a look at renewing an existing clients' sign system. (same customer I did the logo remake for ... name change in their firm)

It's been a full day, but as usual, I still didn't get all I needed to done. Tomorrow I'll have to take my car in to get some repairs so I'll be without wheels for the day. [Frown]

This is what I just put up today. Painted alumacore with dibond tenant panels, framed between 2-6" posts. It's six feet by four feet.

Had to have 5 ft. deep holes, 16" diam, and 16 bags of sacrete in each hole. Also engineered drawing.

Tomorrow I start painting an 85' Mac Tools logo on the aspahlt behind the starting line at the Gatornationals. I have a big cutter on a long stick, so I can cut in the letters standing up. Gettin' too old for that bending over stuff.

Wish I was in OK right now instead of out at the track...I'll be thinking about you lucky ones who are at Fred's meet....

Ordered material, faxed off a quote, wrote and mailed 3 personal cards, returned 5 phone messages . . .working on a 4x6 restaurant sign, and some smaller wooden signs which are in the 'being cleaned, sanded down and spots-filled' stage.(posted about those a week or so ago)

Met my electrician buddy and his hand for lunch at the Waffle joint.

Going to stop in a see a guy who's been waitin' on me a while, about his window, on the way to pickin' up 'Em from school . . .(The first thing she wants to do is get on a bike or roller blades at home, so this ride home from school is some of our 'valuable' time and I take the long way home so she can talk . . .)

When I get back, I'm gonna lay-out and cut some vinyl for a danged ol' set of those freakin' mags . . .(lol)...KNEW I should'nt have returned THAT call [Bash] . . . [Big Grin]

Then...might have to stop back in and read the BB . . . [Wink] [Big Grin]

About dark, I direct Emily to her chores while I finish up a phase of somethin' in the shop and I like to kind'a organize and clean up the shop so it'll be fresh for work tommorrow . . .

Then cook, and eat supper over a movie . . .more talk, finish up chores and time to crash hopefully by 9pm.
Right after I fall asleep, my oldest daughter calls (about 3 times a week) and we talk for over an hour . . . . . . lol

I answered this too literally did'nt I??? [Bash] [Roll Eyes]

Today was my first day back at the golf course after close to 3 months. I've done a lot of work for them from home and I've popped in occaisionally to help out on projects but as far as a full day of being there, it's been a while.

Started out my day answering phones, making tee times for people and checking people in who came to play golf - nice mellow relaxing stuff - and then the boss found out I was back and next thing I know I've got projects coming out my ears.

I'm designing flyers, magazine ads, newsletters, email blasts...on and on and on. I've got pages of notes for work to do at home this weekend.

In between all that, I'm still answering phones and making tee times, installing software on my boss's computer. He can't figure out why he can't save anything to a blank CD - he doesn't quite get that you have to burn it. Okay, the software's installed, he's burning his little heart out (he's actually got a great big heart!)he's happy now.

I came home here to relax for a half hour and then I'm off again to pick Sam up from school. I'm seriously considering taking her to the Imax theater to see The Polar Express - today is the last day it's going to be there.

Myra, you had to mention doing your taxes, didn't you!?!?!!? I REALLY have to do that.

Working on sample panels while I heal up enough to do some real work. Just trying to put in some time with the paint guns, airbrush and squirrel hair.
3 to 12 work schedule at the ole 9 to 5 lets me do that in the morning while the head is clear and the air is fresh.

back in the shop after being "Down East" at Rodger MacMunn's, from whence he and I went to Joe's Chisel Jam. Caught up on the phone messages, met with a client to discuss hanging sign for restaurant, back to shop to put another coat on a 3x 4, out to hang another restaurant sign, back for another coat of paint, talked to City about a new City Hall sign...bless the vandals!...got tired of having wet feet from aforementioned install so put on slippers and watched part of memorial service for Mounties, and now checking the board so I can use the new computer, old one caught fire!... this one is nice and fast, too bad all I know how to do is this.
