SLAYER is the GREATEST! the MELVINS are second greatest....
then there is Suicidal Tendencies, Agnostic Front, Anti-Heros and others....
But these are my favorites.

On the flip-side is Dick Dale, Combustable Edison, Lounge and Beethoven.

I'm a Gemini.

Like my rock hard and my metal heavy ... no real point in listing dozens of bands but my all time favorites would include Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Maiden etc. (early stuff)

Slayer and Pantera would be my tops as far as never put out a bad album ... the rest get a few good ones and run out of ideas (too busy making money to make music.)

Lately I've been having fun downloading music from nobodys at http://music.download.com/

Couple of my newer (commercial)favorites would include Slipknot, Shadows Fall, System of a Down ... check em out if you get a chance.

Funny...
My son's little band (13-14yr olds) has their first "gig" next month, a 15 song set, not one song written since any of them were born (early Maiden, Priest, Metallica) ...
some stuff just stands

So, you like the Clash, Doug??? When I hear "Should I Stay or Should I Go" on my husband's radio, I gotta move to it!

My son got me into the OC Supertones, & some of their stuff reminds me of the clash.

I LOVE Kutless!!!!

That good old Canadian band "Rush"

Posted by Jon Aston (Member # 1725) on :

I'll second that, Sandy!

My horizons have since expanded, but there was a time when I would pretty much ONLY ever listen to Rush, Yes, Led Zepplin, Genesis and King Crimson.

For those of you people that live south of the Canadian border, you might not realise that the only way that we make it though these cold winter days is to play "air guitar" to Rush songs to help us generate enough body heat to combat the frost.

AC/DC - you gotta love a band that hasn't had to change it's sound in 30 years

Dropkick Murphy's
Flogging Molly
Nashville Pussy
The Melvin's
The Dynotones
Mofro
Drive-by Truckers
Social Distortion

Now that I read that list I'm not sure how much of that is actually gonna be called metal. Maybe puck with a metal edge?
