Oh my gosh, I can't believe the amount of times I've gotten sick this year. And I never get sick! Plus I've had a flu shot!

I went to one customer bay. ALL the guys there had it and laughed and warned me I was next. Well, I already had it but it was leaving me. 2 weeks later here we go again!

That same customer had a board meeting with out of towners. 3 of the firetruck owners had to run out of the meeting. They were given garbage bags. LOL

Whatever this is, it's fast and furious and spreads like air. And every day the symptoms can be different. Gone one day, back the next.

Hope you're all staying well unlike me! [Frown]

Boy-oh-boy, don't you know it?! [Wink]

It's easier to count the people who haven't had it around our neck of the woods...

But it's been a weird strain of flu virus that doesn't send you off vomiting...

It's symptoms include:
1.) Body aches/pains
2.) High fever
3.) Chills
4.) Sore throat
5.) Bronchitis/sinusitis
6.) Extreme and prolonged coughing (we're talking weeks and months)
7.) General malaise and fatigue.

It's been pretty bad...hope you feel better...spring is coming soon...which tends to break the cycle for some odd reason.... [Smile]

I'm like you Donna... I almost never get sick. My wife is very susceptible to germs & gets sick 3 or 4 times a year minimum... this flu has got her 3 or 4 times this year already, & I just got it for the second time yesterday. I had to settle for 3 hours sleep 2 nights in a row & was working too hard in between... lowered my resistance too much & whammo... I'm not doing anything today.

i have been sick for over a month...bronchitis...i still don't feel 100%...i keep thinking i must have something more serious then i talk to people and they share the same symtoms. i realize my resistance is way down...too much stress, not enough sleep and i have to eat better...of course this last little trip to california probably took its toll..especially the flight home which was delayed 6 hrs in atlanta...when i saw the screen push the flight off another 2 hours i immediately started to cry like a 2 year old(and couldn't stop)...i was so tired and just wanted to get home...and knowing i had to get in my truck and drive 1.5 hr after landing. i had nothing to wipe my eyes with and clear snot was just streaming outta my nose. a vision of beauty i was. i had to remove myself and go to the restroom to regroup(cry like a baby in the privacy of a stall)...then i bought a box of starbux chocolate covered cherries and life got a little better. made it home and to bed by 5:30am....but i did have fun in california...its just getting home that sucked.

LOL Karyn, I LOVE your form of medication!

Doc just informed me I'm blessed with strep throat. This was a wild strain, flu symptoms from top to bottom. I'm having a love affair with Advil until the antibiotics kick in so I can swallow food again.

Here's the clincher. I've been eating so darn healthy along with my workouts! I was down 10 lb and 8", and eating no crappy carbs or sweets at all. Tons of raw veggies, fresh lean protein, melons (fruit that is lower in sugar). I was sooooo good. [Frown] So Karyn, eat your chocolate. I'm about to give up here!

Hello Donna and others,
Yes...that cold/flu virus had spread to Vancouver Island. It can last 3 months from what my doc says.
You get a bit of relief for a couple of days and think all is over and then you find yourself back in bed for a day or two....not a fun bug. Nothing fights it but time and rest.....even Vick's rub isn't like it used to be.
I hope you get better soon. The daffodils should be out soon....and the birds have started chirping.....keep your chin up...

Karyn...I fly semi-frequently for work...and I've come to discover that my chances of getting some nasty bug while flying is increased tenfold....

Airliners are supposed to mix fresh air in with the cabins' recirculated air...but I don't think they do this very well..

Basically, you're breathing the germs that have been in contact with everyone's lung tissue....which is a frightening thought.

I've read that if someone with TB (tuberculosis) gets on a plane, they can easily spread TB to everyone on board by the end of a short flight.

Cramped quarters and lots of people do not make for good health. If you think about it...people are kind of gross.

I don't know about you ladies...but I can tell you that if you're in an airport restroom, and there are 20 men draining the weasel or laying some cable....only about 4 of them will wash their hands with soap before exiting.....How'd you like to shake their hands?!

Oh, sure .... you might get a few guys that turn the water on and toss their hands under the water for 2 seconds in a faux attempt at looking like they are concerned about good hygiene....but this is nothing more than for appearances....plain water just makes the germs feel refreshed!

Soap and water...scrubbing those hands for a full 30 seconds is what it takes to really kill the germs....this was reported on the news about 2 weeks ago....

No wonder disease spreads....you have some guy (let's call him Tom Thumb) coming out of the bathroom with fingers that have been coated like a carmel apple....and then, they want to shake your hands, prepare your food, or hand you the paper they were just reading.....

And about the flu? People should stay home till they aren't contagious....Ok...I'm finished.

Okay Todd, that was a little more info than I needed!

Darn flu/bronchitis got me around 12/1 and I was down for the count for close to 8 weeks. Scary stuff. Sam ended up with it too...hers went to pneumonia.

Feel better everyone!

I have a vision of Todd in his darkened room, looking like Howard Hughes at the end.

Carmel apple? Geesh, you should try to be more graphic in the future with your descriptions.
That aside, put me with the pro hygeine group.

LOL...sorry, sometimes I get a little too creative in describing things....I'm a "word picture" kind of guy.

This is, in fact, the case though....

[Rolling On The Floor] David......I'll have long curly fingernails, a beard to the floor, and will be running around with a bic lighter incinerating imaginary germs before you know it...hehehehehe.

Ok...just to cement your impression of me as an eccentric, animated storyteller:

Just imagine how easy it is for kids to spread illness....you've got 30 kids in a daycare center, with a third of those dredging out boogers the size of large walnuts....and then handing Susie a leggo with pre-applied mortar to build a playhouse. hehehehe....anyone who is a parent knows what I'm talking about....

Next thing you know.....half of the kids come down with a cold.

Our small school had 30 kids go home with this flu virus one day last week....and this in a school with a graduating class of only about 75 students.

Waterless hand sanitizer. Everyone oughta use it! Even AFTER washing their hands. Not that it helped me of course... LOL
