OK...I'm starting out with my new business , selling my farm raised eggs!!

We've been collecting over a dozen a day, that's 7 dozen a week, almost 25 dozen a month....

And it's not even spring yet!!!

I need a clever name for my eggs....then I can design a label to put on the cartons...

Any ideas?

BTW, my chickens are free range (they scratch around in the woods and yard all day) are fed natural grains, no hormones.
We are even adding flax seed to their diet to raise the Omega 3s in the yolks!

I love eggs!

I like the Farm thing...like whispering willow or silverbrook, sunnyvale. etc. It paints a nice mental picture for something as wholesome as the almighty egg.

Mike, thanks for the link!! What a great site! And her discription of her hens sounds like mine!!

We don't expect to make any money at this, just get some back for feed and stuff...but the payback is the entertainment we get on a daily basis from our 'girls'

(May lose some in translation)

You maybe should rethink the "girls" label for them... the phrase "getting the girls out" has a whole different meaning round here probably more applicable to Mardi Gras behaviour [Wink]

Best of luck, the last time we had chooks they all became roast or curry before returning any type of return on investment.

Maybe I'll have a chance to think about it through the day, but for now, something to do with free or freedom, everyone's wondering about the stuff commercial growers give thier beef, chickens, etc, that having free range chickens, free of hormones, free of steriods, free of wierd supplements, would be appealing.

Of course "A", I'm still laughing about "Poultry in Motion"! Love it.

A, this post thread is conspicuous by your absense. Other than starting the post, then one post to complain about the lameness of our ideas, you haven't posted or participated at all. Are we part of a scavenger contest? (get 45 Letterheads to give 100 ideas and see how long it takes before they realize you're playin with their heads? =5 points).

OK Don.....

I checked in this morning....then had to run as I have had a very busy day......

I'm actually surprised to have had so may responses as I was just joking, hope you aren't taken offence with it.

I spent the afternoon mucking out the coop, replacing it with new shavings, put up more nest boxes, delivered an order to a nieghbor, paid some bills, and started dinner.....

I thought I'd take a break while it's cooking to see if I had more replies.....I was shocked to see how many!!! [Eek!]

And no, I'm not asking anyone to do me a panel, sorry if it sounded like I was, if it did, I apologize.

A:)

Adrienne, my husband used to have a trained Rhode Island Red. he would hold her & she would peck a piece of food out of his teeth (yum!), & he would lay her on her back & pet her belly, & she would fall asleep on her back & just lay there!

She also would crawl in our dog's house to keep warm with her, but when we got a sheperd puppy, he grew up & chewed her head off. It was traumatic.
