Hey, did you hear the one announcer saying toward the end of the game something about them being in trouble because they had to put Bettis in? That was that guy, Deardorf ( sp ) He HATES the Steelers & it is hard to even watch having to listen to his attitude. Yuck! They showed HIM, didn't they? Way to go Steelers!!!!!!

A better kicker and they would have been cleaning lockers tommorrow.
But, alas...

Man is that an understatement!!!! What were they doing trying to lose the darn game?.... Posted by Jillbeans (Member # 1912) on :
I was a guest at a Fireman's banquet last night. Instead of the usual fare, we had a PowerPoint projection of the game on the wall of the Mars VFW. Imagine the din of 250 drunk firemen/women rooting for the team. When it was finally over, the room erupted with applause. I quickly called Stevo so that he could hear everyone shouting "Here we go Steelers here we go!"
Traffic was dead yesterday afternoon. Pittsburgh was at a standstill. None of the public came out to the dance following the banquet. Everyone must have been too busy tailgating and celebrating.
I for one do not know much about football, but I am glad that Pittsburgh is in the playoffs. It is a boon to a depressed economy. Love....Jill

I would like the names
Posted by Sonny Franks (Member # 588) on :
Either The Steelers fans had some very effective concern-rays blasting from their collective psyche, or it was a quintessential case of Divine Intervention. Even with Michael Vick, the Falcons don't stand a chance if God is pulling for Pittsburgh.
Posted by Jillbeans (Member # 1912) on :
I'm not great with football info but even I know these names: BIG BEN (can't spell his last name!) Jerome Bettis "The Bus" Plaxico Burris Heinz Ward
(Does Dan Marino count? He has a bad Pittsburgh accent!...almost as bad as Dennis Miller's)
Oldies: Terry Bradshaw "Mean Joe" Green Franco Harris Rocky Bleier Jack Lambert Lynn Swann I'm sure OP can add more. Remember....he's an "ex-PAT" from PA, if not actually from Pittsburgh.
Hockey, anyone? Love....Jill
Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
Hockey? Hmmmmmmmmmm...
Les Binkley Jean Pronovost Michel Briere (he died in auto accident...) Ken Schinkel Ron Schock Leo Boivan Denis Herron Eddie Shack Andy Brown (the last maskless goalie in the NHL)
Not to forget...
Mario Tom Barrasso Darrin Shannon Mike Recchi
Oh, the memories of Penguins hockey on KDKA...
K-D-K-A... Pittsburgh. A member of the Westinghouse Broadcasting network. High atop the Alleghanys.

It wasn't the Steeler's fault that they won! or...The Steelers didn't win, the Jets lost. Here's to a Pennsylvania Superbowl!
P.S. only one word you need to know about hockey...DEVILS!

Anyone see the east vs west game? The kid from hamilton dominated eh.Jesse Lumsdun. His brother plays for the school I work at and his father has a position with the Tiger Cats.

I'm sure OP can add more. Remember....he's an "ex-PAT" from PA, if not actually from Pittsburgh. i lived in washington county, avella pa. from 1945 till 81. i spent 8 years in maine from 65-73. iam not a city kid, just one of the pa country boys. hehehehe. ok lets see if my memory is workin. DAN MARINO, JOE MONTANA, MARTY SHOTENHIMER, JOE NAMATH, THE COACH OF THE SAINTS, i think TONI DUNGEE is a native of pittsburgh, might be wrong. GO GO GOGALAC, AND THE OLDEST PLACE KICKER cant remeber his name. many more.........help me out pa people, hehehehehe.
Posted by Cam Bortz (Member # 55) on :
OP, your Steelers had best be better next week than they looked against the Jets. New York dominated all through that game, til the kicker choked (but then, choking seems to be a New York epidemic these days).
The Pats called in that last game against Pittsburgh, and got their heads handed to them. Don't count on that complacency again. That Rothlisberger(sp?) kid might turn into the Second Coming of Terry Bradshaw, but he ain't quite their just yet. We'll see how it goes when Bruschi, McGinest and Vrabel open up a can of whup-ass on the boy. Don't think so? Ask Peyton Manning.

Its no use Mark, The team names occasionally have some resemblance, but the bizarre stop and go game loosely referred to in the US as football is a hollow substitute. An entirely separate part of the team to do the the kicking? What kind of weird is that????! Posted by Al Checca (Member # 2216) on :
Pittsburgh is 3 point underdogs for this weekends game..........We can do it guys!!!! Relax Ben.... Ummmm Run the darn ball!
Posted by Jeff Poitevint (Member # 4740) on :
I'll arrive in Vegas Saturday morning at 11:00 AM, gamble until I fall out, then get up, bet, and watch the Philly / Falcons game. If Atlanta plays like last weekend, I'll pay for my trip!
GO COONS!
Posted by old paint (Member # 549) on :
SORRY ATLANTA FOLKS....vick cant play well in the cold. GO EAGLES!!!!!! GONA BE 2 PA. TEAMS IN THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Doug Allan (Member # 2247) on :
Go Steelers! (lets see some action though, at least tie it up by the half)
I'm not much of a football fan, but I always get interested around this time of year.
Seeing the Hula Bowl yesterday & tossing the pigskin around with my 6 yr. old grandson all weekend has me joining in the pre superbowl frenzy though:)

Posted by Cam Bortz (Member # 55) on :
That was Roethlisberger's nightmare you were having, Al, seeing the Patriot defense making those interceptions.
I like the Eagles, but I don't think they have the horsepower to stop Brady or get past the Pats defense.

Say what you want, but Ben is still a good quarterback, this season proved it. Just watch him go this next year!
