Hey Heads, I'm looking to buy a solvent jet printer and need some advice on which one to buy. If you have one of these I would love to hear your experience, good or bad.

I run a sc-500 soljet. Works fine but I can only print on media for the ecoinks that it uses. I know that there is an upgrade for the sc-500 so it becomes a thermal printer but I have not had much call, or to say I still like working around that situation.I find the soljet a reliable printer and easy to maintain. I like the quality it prints for my applications. I use oneshot uv clear that I stray on for a protectice coating.
I would say this about any solvent printer. Make sure that you media and ink is not a problem to aquire. I have waited a week or two to get in some media. Also, the service and tech support should be checked into. for exemple is the sales rep in your area a tech as well.

Rick I think if you do a search on digital printers you will find a wealth of recent discussions on them.

I'm very happy with my Soljet Pro II. And I have put mine through one hell of a test over the past six months. Very little maintenance and the quality and speed are really good.

Call me if you have any specific questions about it.

We own a sc500 (soljet) with the heater upgrade, which now lets us print onto most vinyls (coated and uncoated). The print quality I find outstanding, so good that we dont even use the top quality print mode because the fine2 mode is good enough for us.
Weve had it for 4 years now and we replaced the heads twice, due to the amount of use.
If you decide to get a printer, I would suggest to go for the wider (1370mm) version, it opens up so many more possibilites, like printing all of your banners instaed of signwriting them.

I agree with Greg, get the wider version. I am glad that I did. The banner printing is fast at fine2. I also do art prints for local artist in town. Once I have there work scaned in I can print off their work on a few different canvases.
