I was wondering if someone could tell me what kind of vinyl should I use to letter a boat?
Thanks, Teresa

Teresa I would advise you to use only high performance vinyl.

Teresa, If you're brand new at boat lettering, give me a call sometime and I can save you a little time and trouble. I type way too slow to help you on this forum, but I've been lettering boats for over 30 years and I'm pretty sure I've come across every problem imaginable and some that weren't. 770-923-9933 night or day.

Calon II by Arlon
or 3M
either way, only use High Performance 2mil
Don't skimp or cheap-out on the vinyl or it WILL come back and bite you in the tushy

Is the boat fiberglass? Does it live in the water? Does it get waxed? Is it a fishing boat that gets gear dragged across the lettering? Many variables to determine if paint or vinyl would be better and how to prpe the surface. Surface prep is most important either way. Other important element is that you have fun doing it.

High Performance vinyl. Definitely accept Sonny's offer and talk to him first. There are many variables to boat lettering. And as Rick says, be sure to include the FUN factor.

all suggestions are good, but try to prep the surface prior to applying "fantastic plastic". We use automotive prep-sol type solvents,or you can try handy dandy mineral spirits.....with a good cleaning after with h20. Glass is a non-forgiving surface......take the time to make sure it's chem free.
