I have a job for 6'x12'digitals that need to be applied to 6' tall material - no seams. The digitals to be overlayed on the substrate. This is a high end product - and there are a lot of them.
My questions:
1) Where can I get 6' tall PVC or coro (or similar - but not plexi)
and
2) Who is a good source for 6' tall digitals that can be produced quickly (like in one week)

Hiya Pat, I've yet to find PVC in a sheet that size and I've searched many places. I think you can get it in 5' x 10' but it's a speial order item from my vendors. Your best bet may be to contact the manufacturers directly. The only other suggestion I can come up with is to build a 1" frame out of wood and stretch a banner over it. If you find a source, please share it. I don't get a lot of requests for it but there's bee a few times I could have used it. Also, just shooting from the hip, what about 1/4" plywood? from what I recall, you can get plywood in much larger sizes than 4' x 8'.

Pat, You can build an aluminum tube frame and attach the Sintra to it. That way you will have something relatively lightweight to attach the print to and to hang. Build the 6'x12'frame and attach 3 - 6'x4' panels to build the sign. Have the stringers where the panels meet for added support. Put it all together with VHB tape and then add print. Of course, I like Brian's idea of a banner - you could stretch that onto the aluminum tube frame also. The 1" square tube aluminum comes in 21' lengths and would span nicely across the entire length without a seam or connector necessary. It has corner braces and center supports. All Pop-Rivets together quickly and easily.
Why is your customer demanding such "high-end" product and only giving you a week to produce? Doesn't seem right, if even possible.

Second part - Try Gregory or Graphitek of Vermont for the prints.
Lexan is available in 8'large diameter rolls but the quantity would probably take you broke.
Another choice for substrate is one of the Gatorboard/Fomeboard products with a plastic laminate coating. Sorry I can't remember the name of it.

The frame idea is a good one - however - there are 80 6'x6' and 30 6'x12' so production time is an issue.
As for the client's time frame...I have an install date of the 12th but I wanted to get the materials in house to get everything applied for install - hence the 'one week' thing.

Well - got some good news...
Talked the client into 5'x5's and 5'x10's so PVC is a go...
Whew!!!
Still need the prints...I will try Gregory and Grafitek but does anyone know if there is a merchant or 'head' that can print 5' digitals?

Dodged THAT bullet, huh! That's good news. I always find that customers are reasonable when it comes to sizes that are standard, especially if it comes down to substantial savings.

If these are going to be outdoors or in direct sunlight, you're asking for trouble going with PVC as the substrate. It expands and contracts about 1/2" every 10' in the heat.

im sure you can buy di-bond 3metres x 2metres? also.. save yourself a bit or grief, call a large trade supplier that uses flat bed printers, they will print direct to the sheet, so no worries on having to apply. one more thing.. if you can get hold of a trade supplier with a flat bed.. something like the zund, they will already stock the material at that width, plastic or dibond. they can print, parcel up and ship out direct to you or your customer with unbranded parcels/packaging. so you save heaps on delivery and never actualy have to do anything other than locate a good source. i reckon you will save more on material, printing, deliver, labour etc getting them to do it than you buying & cutting boards, buying in prints and laying them up. then shipping out to your customer.
