I have to create a brochure for a client. I am sure I can create one in Word Perfect or even in CorelDraw, but wondered what others use. I don't really want to buy a special program unless I start doing a few of them, so is there some quick and easy shareware out there?

I'd say to use that CorelDraw, it's little tasks like this that makes it shine so much.

We have used both Corel & Illustrator. Both work well.

I'm with Fayette, use CorelDraw

If you have Corel, use that, makes sure you find a printer who uses it well.
On simple layouts I use Illustrator. On complex brochures I use InDesign (I am still getting used to it, Ex-Quark User) in conjunction with Illustrator and Photoshop, I have not had a chance to layout a really big brochure with InDesign yet but I practice with it on the small stuff.

If you have CorelDRAW use that, that's what it's intended for. It's a drawing and page layout program wrapped up in one.

Corel is all I use for Brochures and most of the printing jobs that I get. If you want basic templates let me know and will email (Panel sizes for folds etc.)

Okay Folks, Corel it is! - and yes Mario I'd love the printing templates. BTW - Jess and I watched the DVD you sent - well done - it brought back some lovely memories as well as a touch of loneliness - I miss the ranch and letterheads.

"Corel" I cant think of a reason why you would ask this if you already have Corel... That being said is their something you think Corel can not do?

MS Publisher is simple, I prefer Pagemaker & In Design though.
All you really need to do is set up a landscape page divided into thirds (or whatever), thern set up a cover & back page, and the rest is the inside stuff.

There are vast areas of Corel that I have not explored Steve. Sometimes the sheer power of it intimidates me. I used it tonight, and it is working well for me, I just didn't realize it would be that easy once I finally figured the paragraph text / text frame thing out. Sometimes my mind is rather stubborn about exploring new things. I just didn't want to spend hours figuring it out to find out it wasn't the right tool for the job. Having fairly recently upgraded to Corel 12, I'm still pretty green, and I have done almost no desktop publishing with it. I wish I had some spare time to work with it.

Kelly said "There are vast areas of Corel that I have not explored Steve. Sometimes the sheer power of it intimidates me." ---------------------- Corecto, seņora. The other programs don't matter in this case, because you already have Corel. There are vast areas of Corel that aren't always understood by the people who invented it. You may want to bookmark Graphics Unleashed (unleash.com) and not be intimidated, because there's lots of help out there. Lots of help here at Letterhead too.
