I just recieved a contract back from a couple who signed their names and then wrote "all rights reserved TM" underneath their names. I have been unable to reach them to clarify what they mean. Can someone trademark their signature? Anyone run into this before? I'm clueless. Posted by W. R. Pickett (Member # 3842) on :
...You are being paid to perform work for these people and cannot contact them ???
....Something smells funny here.

Eric, Is it from John Hancock???
Basically the "artwork" that is their signature would be covered by Copyright, not Trademark. Trademark will cover the actual names, as in "John Hancock" can be a trademark of the Company. If their name is a made up name, it may be Trademark-able. If there name is common, like Sally and Andrew Patterson, then they are full of themselves to think they can trademark the names so no one else could use them.

Gene,
They're just normal names. I thought it might be some new scam or something, that others had heard about. I guess they're just weird. I'll find out when they return next week. Thanks.
W.R.,
I grew up in Roanoke and always thought Richmond smelled funny too.
