I just replaced my Sony G500 21" crt monitor with a Viewsonic VP201S LCD monitor...

OOOOOhhh baaaby....this sucker rocks. Text is crystal clear...no dead pixels and 20.1 visible inches of viewing space.

But, to get the best picture I have to run it at 1600 X 1200 dpi screen resolution.....and that makes everything teeny tiny.

I did figure out how to enlarge all my desktop icons and some text for toolbars, etc without changing the resolution....but haven't been able to figure out how to get font sizes larger for viewing web pages like this for instance....or for my applications.

Any computer guru's can lend me a hand? Thanks.

Go into Internet Explorer and click on VIEW and then TEXT SIZE and then select a larger size. Try that and let us know if it works.

Todd..I'm sure you know this but, in case you don't..right click on the empty space on the desktop.. hit properties>settings>advanced..select "large fonts"

I am running 1600x1200..been wearing glasses since I was 4 years old and I can see everything just fine with those settings.

YOu can also CUSTOM size the text, rather than use one of the presets....

I just hold down the CTRL button then roll the scrollwheel on my mouse forward or backward til the text is the size I want. (Nice shortcut for those of us with scrollwheels!)

You learn something new everyday, don't you, Mike I never knew about the scroll mouse. WOW!

Awesome! All those ideas work! Thanks for the replies...

Kimberly - that one worked perfectly
Dave - Your's too!
Mike - Like Neil said, "Wow" I didn't know you could do that.
Tas...yep....

There's a lot in windows that I bet people (like me) don't even know exists!

Thanks again....now I'm lovin' it even more. [Big Grin]

Cool! There's nothing I love better than an easily solvable problem.

I found the mouse thing by accident. [Smile] Who actually RTFM's?? [Smile]

That trick works with Explorer, but not Mozilla.

Ok, after getting back from a trip, I worked more on implementing the suggestions.

They all worked for desktop and other various aspects of the computer....but did not affect text withing Illustrator.

Rollups and text remained small, and I was hoping that it would be a global change...but apparently not.

Is there a way to increase the size of the rollups and toolbars that are specifically part of Illustrator (CS)? Thanks for your help.

I have posted this question with the Adobe Illustrator forum, but have not yet received a definitive answer.

Damn Mike I'm impressed with that tip. To think after 30 years of working with Windows I never encountered that trick before....

Thanks.

Damn Bob, I'm impressed with that statement- 30 years working with Windows.... [Wink] ?

I second Ian's thoughts Bob, plus the fact scrollwheels didn't come out til more recently. [Wink]

HELP! Please read my last post....I've partially solved my issue with text resizing...but haven't figured out how to do it (if it's possible) within Illustrator....any ideas?

I have Win98se, on the bare desktop do a right button click, select 'properties' and then the 'appearance' tab. In here you can select each Windows enviroment element seperately and can change them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice Fayette, but I've tried this and it only seems to affect windows OS elements....and doesn't seem to change text size in application software such as Illustrator...

I've got everything else pretty well tweeked...except for figuring out if or how to adjust text/sizing issues within Illustrator or other software programs.
