I was just contacted by the local school district, they are building a new gym and want me to do the artwork on the basket ball court... Here is the question, can I use One shot or do i have to sue there specified paints? I forgot the brand name but I did read up on it and it stated that it was dry to the touch in 24 hours and fully cured in 2 weeks and clean up mineral spirits, sounds an awful lot like One shot to me... The floor will have a polyurethane clear finish when completed ... Any one out there one of these if so, got any tips? thanks!!!!!!

YO, if you use one-shot you will probably by far exceed the quality of their prescribed paint, since just between us, there is nothing that's better, adheres to more (clean) surfaces, and we know how it responds to us from many years of association Be daring. Go for it.

Hey there, I have done a couple of these jobs... First things first, the floor needs to be sealed with a sanding sealer or maybe a first coat of urethane. You can not paint on raw wood. One shot is what I used and it the 5 coats of urethane clear protected it just fine. If you are unsure or want reasurance, test the paints before you break your back.
Good luck, have fun!

Does anyone know what they use for floor graphics on NBA courts where they must change them regularly & quickly for different teams/events? I'm guessing they use laminated digital prints, but would like some insight.

Hey Peewee, you have two threads going with the same topic. The other one is way down the list and inactive so I'm pasting my answer in this active one. The floors I've done were all portable floors.
I've done over a dozen floors including the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, and the Florida Gators. We mostly used a urethane paint from the clear coat manufacturer because they could provide us with any PMS color. But the Boston Celtic job required metalic gold. I researched this pretty thoroughly and found most flooring contractors use One Shot WITH hardner.
I use paint mask or pounce patterns, whichever worked best for the particular job. When using One Shot with 10% hardner, I would give it 24 hours to dry, then scuff with a 3M maroon pad. Wipe up the scuffing dust with a towel damped with water. If you use mineral spirits, you can make the sanding dust into stain and ruin your graphics. The floor is now ready for the clear coat.
The floor manufacturer was under a tight timeline on the Celtics floor. They applied the polyurethane finish within 48 hours of painting. After the season, part of center court was returned for some changes. The One Shot gold grabbed the polyurethane topcoat better than their own urethane paint. We started using One Shot on all the floors. Adding hardner to the paint and scuffing off the gloss is a must.
Edited for Brad, I've heard they do indeed use vinyl graphics for temporary graphics. But most of the NBA teams have their own portable floor. I've also heard a few stadiums that host multiple teams have seperate sections of the court for each team, like just the center court logo. They use the panels in center court for the team that's playing.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I did post it twice because i didn't proof read and correct some spelling mistakes. Also I couldn't figure out how to delete one. The floor will have "Nelson Avenue Tigers" written in the center court, with the word Tigers in script in red with white outline below the nelson avenue (in black).. The ends will have nelson avenue on both ends in script with white outlines and possibly a couple of tiger heads on each side... All I have to do is the lettering and artwork, I plan on charging about $1500-$2000 for the job as a favor to the school . This may be cheap but I went to school there and my kids are presently enrolled there, And the schools need every penny they can get...
