Thanks to our own Chris "Kissymatina" Welker, Letterville Panel Swap Number 3 is now a reality. Here are the panels in a slideshow format. I know you are going to be inspired to get involved in Letterville Panel Swap #4.
If you see any errors, such as misspelling someone's name or have a better photo than what we are presenting here, please let us know about it. A cover page would also be welcome. Step By Steps Page. It may be time these panel projects have a new page all of their own. In the meantime, enjoy the talent and wit of those who take part in these wonderful Panel Swaps.

Just checking to see if you were on the job Doug

gotta keep me on my toes
(now that the topic heading & link are fixed...I'll be willin' to overlook the 4 on top of every page... so much great artwork to look at... such a shame to have been a "panel dropper" this time)
Posted by Jillbeans (Member # 1912) on :
I think Dana's is the cutest (altho I know we're not supposed to have favorites) I'm just bummed that I didn't get #4, it would have been perfect for June's wig. But I LOVE my lunchbox! Thanks Ron! Love...Jill

WOW! Cream of the crop stuff
Big kudos to everyone involved
needs to be put "somewhere" for future reference and/or newbie IDEAS
Posted by Jon Butterworth (Member # 227) on :
Great stuff! If you are wondering about the two "fish" panels from down-under (mine & Army Dave's) ... they were done at the mini panel jam we had at my place:) We used RT's airbrush and heat-gun background technique and an aboriginal drawing of a Barramundi.
Haven't received my panel yet, but at least now I think I know what it looks like.
Thanks Pat?
Posted by Steve Shortreed (Member # 436) on :
Never has 1 guy screwed up the spelling of so many names. I've redone the whole deal. Please tell me I have everyones name right.
Posted by Jane Diaz (Member # 595) on :
Just wanted everyone to know if they didn't know already, that the very first panel shown is a portrait of letterville's own Pat King stretching to get that last letter on the walldog event in Atlanta Illinois 2 years ago. He put up with us "waterbase" walldogs pretty well! Did you recognize yourself, Pat?

Those are too cool.
What really amazes me is how varied the panels themselves are...so many creative ideas and on such a variety of substrates.
Hats off to everyone, and special thanks to Joe Chips for the hand carved pinstriping brushes.
So, when's the next one? Rapid

Posted by Dana Bowers (Member # 780) on :
Sheila... I had the same thing happen. Just scroll down on the left side, click on the next panel in line, and it'll start up again.
GREAT job everyone!!!
Posted by Jane Diaz (Member # 595) on :
Dale, we commited to doing a panel and then the host (Kissy in this case) sent us a name to send it to. (That's the short version!) There's been 3 swaps here on Letterville and when #4 is offered up, start making a panel and get your name in the hat! Under "Step by Steps" (to the left) there are photos of the past swaps. The OTHER way you can get in on a panel swap is to attend a live meet. Alot of swapping goes on there. Some times those are very organized and sometimes someone just says "Hey' I really like your panel" and the other person says "what you got to trade?".

Thanks Jane... I look forward to the next swap then. Dale
Posted by Jillbeans (Member # 1912) on :
Thanks Terry. I was trying to make it look like one of the neat old tombstones I saw on my trip to Scotland. It is made out of a piece of slate from my sister's barn roof. The wood backer is something I had laying in the shop for about 10 years. It is called "Spooky's Cafeteria" after my cat who bit the big one last fall. We used to have an outdoor feeder for her, and all the neighborhood riff-raff dined at it. Naturally it got that moniker. I thought it would make a cool chalkboard. I smalted the frame, and I painted the thing with 1-Shot after studying several old headstone pix. It looks better in person. (the daily special is "what the cat dragged in") I about died when Jeff put the Coro that I shipped it in up as a joke when he said he got his panel. I don't do everything on Coroplast! Glad ya like it. Love...jill

Great stuff all!! Wonderful panels!
Because of mostly our of town work I've had to pass on all three panel swaps to date. But now I have a shop of my own at long last and am spending more time there than on the road. I may just get in on Panel swap 4!

Shiela. The original slideshow I posted was full of spelling errors. I changed a few manually, but that seemed to cause the problems you describe. Late last night I redid the whole thing. Are you still seeing problems?

OK, who is the next victi-oops I mean ORGANIZER? And this is in no way an offer! Love...Jill

Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
Dave.... You can say "I". The rest of us have to say "aye".
On that note, I say "aye".
Better "you" than "I"! LOL!
Hey, great job on those panels! Impressive.
Have a great one!

Steve, We seem to have lost the link on the panel swap... Dale
Posted by Bill Diaz (Member # 2549) on :
Dave -- I. It seems I owe you a panel also.
Posted by Jane Diaz (Member # 595) on :
Way to go Dave! If you need any help, you know where we are at!

Posted by dave parr (Member # 3868) on :
Bill,
I'm not foolish enough to turn down a panel from you, I will welcome it with open arms; however, you needn't feel in panel debt to me, mine to you & Jane was a Thank You for organizing the LetterRip meet last summer.
Posted by Jon Butterworth (Member # 227) on :
I'm in again! Even tho I have not received my panel yet from this one
Think it's from Pat King? If so, at least I know what it looks like!
Pat, did yer send it snail mail? I know cost would have been a factor. No problem, just let me know it's coming:)
How about a "theme" for the next one.
Posted by Catharine C. Kennedy (Member # 4459) on :
Even as a rank amatur, I'd like "in" on the next panel exchange, too!
Posted by DONALD THOMPSON (Member # 3726) on :
I will participate again, but I promise to get my picture in on time this time.
Posted by Bill Diaz (Member # 2549) on :
But Dave, I can't sleep at night knowing I owe you a panel. I'm so frigging tired because of it that I have become narly or is it "gnarly." In any event I'm going to make it a mission to make you a panel down at Lincoln if you go to that meet and if they have panel jammin' there.
I'm wantin' to do some jammin' cause I'm startin' my own person museum and your panel is going to be in it.
Posted by Dan Streicher (Member # 4515) on :
with no extra time on my hands heck "I'm in as well too" when are the photos due to you?
Posted by dave parr (Member # 3868) on :
I'll post the guidelines this weekend Dan. Glad to see the interest. I think these swaps are a lot of fun. I might do this one a bit differently. Why not, right?
Posted by Jillbeans (Member # 1912) on :
Count me in too. I still say a good idea would be if we were all asked to design the same phrase or copy. (IOAFS?) (Keepers of the Craft?) So many variations on a theme would be neat to see. Love...Jill
Posted by Steve Shortreed (Member # 436) on :
Ya gotta do one to get one! Count me in. BTW? Is anyone having problems with the cover page and/or slideshow?

me = in
lets do it!
Posted by Jon Butterworth (Member # 227) on :
Yes Steve,
I having problems downloading the slide show. 10 seconds don't allow enough time! We just slow down here I think.
How about just loading them all as a pictorial thumbnails and be able to select individual panels to view. It's easy enough for me to make a slide show afterwards.
10 seconds really don't give you enough time to appreciate some of the talent on hand and yer gotta refresh all the time.
Just a thought!
Posted by Ray Rheaume (Member # 3794) on :
Jon,
Here's a quick fix...
Right click on the large image and select "Properties" Highlight the internet address and copy it.
Paste it into the address bar, hit enter, and it will go to the picture without the slideshow kicking in.
like this...

At least I know it's on it's way
Posted by Sheila Ferrell (Member # 3741) on :
Steve, it must just be my computer but everything worked and changed every 10 seconds except
Dana's, Chips, John lenings, John sargaent & Jon Butterworth, Mark's, Pat Whatley, & Ray's just showed a black page for 10 seconds . . . . . . .
Posted by John Lennig (Member # 2455) on :
Oh No!!! Not the Dreaded BLACK PAGE!!!
The above aforementioned panellers.... have all had their panels de-eliminated...so to speak...Start Over, Make it Better, Make it Bigger!!

Posted by David O'Hanlon (Member # 2754) on :
I'll have a piece of this.
Posted by Jane Diaz (Member # 595) on :
Danny, look to the left at the Step-by-Steps. There are examples of past swaps. They have all been run differently. Basically, everyone puts their name in a hat, does a panel to exchange and the "host" draws names and sends you a destination to send your panel to. In a week or so, you get a panel from someone else. It is fun to get a panel, but I think it was MORE fun to see the reaction of the person who gets yours and see the final roll call of all the panels that were done. There are some great ideas! It's a nice way to get to know people from all over and to get something new to display on your walls at your shop. The next one is going to be "hosted" by Dave Parr from Peoria, IL and has a circus theme. Check out the other posts here and jump right in!
