My niece recently purchased a plotter with win pc letter 12.0 and cannot get the softwear to recognize the plotter. She has connected the plotter to her computer with the supplied serial cable and seems to have trouble selecting and setting the right comm. port for the plotter.

Her normal job hours are the same as where she purchased her equipment from so it is very hard for her to contact them by phone for advice. Also, at present, she does not have access to the internet. Her OS is windows XP. I have talked with her several times on the phone and told her I would post something here and see if I could get her some help.

Thanks for your help, John

John,

Just a shot in the dark. Has she tried running it from the LPT port? Might make a difference.

Hope this helps,
R.T.

John..There are updates to WinPC Sign 12 at THIS LOCATION

Updates might just help. Other than that I can't offer any other solutions.

edited to say....."Opps no internet access, maybe someone could download the update, burn it to CD and she could use that."

Also...When I first started, I used an old version of their software and LPT was the simplest way to go, like RT has suggested. No messing with baud rates and stuff. Just plug and play with an LPT connection.

She got it working. I don't know what she did and I really don't think she knows for sure but it is working. Thanks for the info. John
