We will be replacing stripes on a motor home. They appear to be thicker than our regular vinyl. Any suggestions on thickness/brand/application techniques??? Thanks everyone!!

AHHH same story as the post I just put on in regards to boat stripes please see my info there, but I have also ordered matching prespaced stripes from (X company) motorhome manufacturer as well and it was a 1976 model and they still had the correct replacement available, only difference in application would be the ribbed sidewalls to contend with if applicable.

Replacing stripes on a motorhome is one thing but removing the stripes is a whole different ballgame. Whatever you do, be prepared to charge your hourly shop rate where-as this may take days.

Joey as always you are correct that just opened a whole bad memory I didn't want to remember same moho (it looked like the one in stripes the comedy where they outfit the rv as a litte war station) anyhow the entire removal the largest piece of old striping we were able to remove was about 2"X2" just brittle nasty stuff and then you need to scrub and remove all the residue....YUCK

Use a "heat lamp tree" from the bodyshop industry to heat up and remove old vinyl.
Then get out the Rapid Remover, no need for a bunch of scrubing and scraping !

Well I use a Infra- Red auto body Hrat Lamp and a heat gun. as for the correct thickness, Hum See 3M for that one. Posted by Todd Gill (Member # 2569) on :
Here I am OP! Hehehe....
Roger is right except he left one important step out! You hire a teenage kid who needs gas money to do the removal....
Removing old vinyl from a motorhome is a job I would never do under any circumstances....If it doesn't break all your fingernails, lil chislers, and patience...it'll for certain drive you nuts.
Edit: Oh, and regarding the thickness....if it's thicker than cast vinyl...it's going to be calendared vinyl....which means the motorhome is either a very entry level cheap unit or very, very, old in which case the removal will be even worse.
