If its a solvent machine I don't think you can get the bright intense reds you're looking for even with a good profile.
One of the reasons I wouldnt buy a "true" solvent machine. All of the colors from every printer I looked at had the dull muddy blues and reds.
Seicos new colormaster machine claims to have solved the red problem and I did see some prints at the ISA show that were a big improvement. Still I thought they could have popped even more.
Im sure over time they will formulate new inks that should continue to get better. Good luck and I hope you do find a solution.

Hiya Keith, The problem with pofiles is that they're all different for everyone and every machine. We had a lot of luck using the profiles provided by our printer manufacturer. The trick to getting them to work was using profiled images or files. After we calibrated our monitors, we found that just by assigning the right color profile in Photoshop or Illustrator, we got a lot closer to accurately reproducing color. It's still not perfect, but we didn't have to spend the tens of thousands of dollars on color calibration hardware and software. Another site you may want to look at is http://graphintel.com/ I took one of their seminars about a year ago and it was well worth it.
