Running a Roland PNC 1000A from Signlab 5, in Windows 98. This has always worked well until the kids unplugged the cable and plugged it into a HP printer. I have the cables back where they should be , and I can cut from Signlab, but it cuts in bursts of less than half a second. It takes about one minute to cut a three inch letter 'G'. At the same time the mouse reacts the same way, very slow and choppy movements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what is your default printer? did they mess with anything else? check your settings in your roland driver setup? what version roland driver are you using i got ver 2.60. did the kids mess with the setting on the roland console?.

My default printer is my HP. No, the kids did not make changes to the Roland set-up. I've re-installed Signlab and the drivers and still have the same problems. It seems that it is consuming all memory available while it is printing as the mouse responds very sluggish as well, until it completes plotting.

Try un-installing the ROLAND driver, then re-install.

Just a suggestion. Have you tried a system restore to an ealier date that everything worked well. Usually works for me when everthing screws up.

The HP driver or printer spooler is likely using up all the processor cycles. thus making your machine run slower. It may be looking for the HP printer when you send a job to the plotter.

Delete the driver and reinstall the printer driver,

I blew away the drivers, re-installed, still same problem. Went into the Signlab directory and blew away the .ini file for CAMM. Re-installed the driver, still no luck. Within Signlab, selected a dos checkbox in ploter set-up and viola, I'm back in business. Thanks to all who replied, got me on the right track. Got my money's worth for the annual membership for sure..

Glad you got it going Peter...I was going to suggest checking the baud rates between plotter and software and handshaking, etc settings....
