I do most of my designwork at home and bring it with me next morning and load it onto my work computers some seven miles away. Down through the years I have used every imaginable removable device for this purpose, floppies, cd's etc. This weekend however I bought a 512 meg flash drive and I'm thrilled with its ease of use, speed and size for portability. I am one of the last to discover these gadgets or are any of you using them for similar uses. Curious to knoe your feelings

I recently posted about my newest jump drive. I had been using a 256MB but bought an 1.5gig one two weeks ago. Wonderful device!

I'm pretty happy with my remote access via PCanywhere because I can not only send my completed work ahead of me to the office, but when working at home, I often think up other work I could move forward on, & need to go get the files from the office machine. Based on how much I feel like working when I finally drag myself out of the shop, If I had to plan ahead what I will work on, I would not bring any work home. [Smile]

Those drives sound great though & I expect I will have to have one someday. I have a few Sony Vaio desktop computers & thought I'd get some memory stix, since I have the drives already, but they are too expensive, & not nearly as compatible (with other computers) as the USB flash drives.

i just got a USB key flash drive, 256 K man its nice, FAST too.
I use FTP to do most of my work but this key makes it easy to tote around to other computers too. nice

Where's Pat when you need him? He's developed this revolutionary pinhole-pounce idea.
Who knows, If he and OP were to get together on this, they might come up with punch-card technology?

It could happen! [Dunno]

I use a Lexar JumpDrive Trio. It is a USB device simular to a thumb drive but excepts SD cards and Sony Memory Sticks. It is also great as I use a Pocket PC that uses a SD card, and hope to get a camera that also uses the SD card.

I just bought a SanDisk jump drive. Very cool. I can pop it into my Mac, then take the files to my PC. My Mac doesn't have a CD burner in it. I prefer burning CD's on the PC anyway because those jpg, eps, tiff, & AI files can be read on a MAc or a PC when I burn the CD on a PC.

Have had a 256 mb flash stick for about 3 or 4 months....awesome. It's like the size of a lipstick case (not that I use lipstick [Embarrassed] ) and you can save your files to it, stuff it in your pocket and take it anywhere.

Zip drives are history! Not everybody has a zip drive...but every computer has USB! Plus...no moving parts!

Enjoy it from day 1.

i have the Creative Labs MUVO 128mb. it's a flash drive, mp3 player with display screen, and a recorder (records *.wav files). the size is close to a BiC lighter.

i also try to keep a few blank CDs in the truck in case i need to save something larger.
