Anyone with advice or opinion on a problem i am having with my Roland Colorcamm pc-12. Every time I turn it on or power it up in either Signlab or Flexisign the green error lite comes on and stays on and the printer wont print or cut. Then inside the program I am using I get a message saying the front cover is open and to close it even though its not open. Any thoughts or advice, thanks Sherry

Hi Sherry!

I am not completely familiar with the pc12, however I do have a pc600 and I had some trouble getting things set up, too.

What operating system are you using? I have Windows-XP and they did not make a compatable driver for XP, so, I had to download one from RolandDG website, then, reconfigure my BIOS settings to a STP(standard-Unidirectional)versus a Bi-directional because you don't need information to be sent back to the Computer... it just needs to be sent to the plotter.

Since you have Flexi and SignLab I am guessing that you are not using the Roland ColorChoice RIP software that came with the pc12. So, I won't go into the limiting factors that I have had to iron out because I cut out of Corel 10.0 most of the time, or ColorChoice for long jobs, so I can only speak from that perspective.

However, I found that when I set up my plotters Edge of Page Sensor, Base Point and some other personal settings that it helped with its functional abilities.

As I understand, if the Front Cover light is ON, then everything is okay... that means that the cover is Closed, but if it is blinking then there is a problem... so it sounds like that is fine.

Although since there is a program giving you this error message... I am at a loss here... which program is it? Are the print cartriges in backwards??

I wish that I could be of more help... but I am just getting all the bugs out of my systems. I am sorry, but I will ask a couple of my friends that have used Roland Plotters most of their careers. I will send you what ever I can find out. Hopefully, Ron Bastian responds to you... he helped me out BIG TIME with the pc600.

You might want to call or Email George Lui at Roland... he assisted me on some of my issues. I will send you his info... offline [Big Grin]

I wish you the Best of Luck. I know how frustrating it is to have your equipment on the fritz... [Eek!]

Craig

It doesn't sound like an operating system issue to me. I run a PC-12 straight out of Corel Draw 11 on an XP system.

What are the lights doing when it tells you the front cover is open? Have you tried printing anything through their garbage bridge program? Tried changing the cable? These are just diagnostic ideas. I'm thinking maybe bad cable, bad sensor on the machine or re-install the driver for it & see what happens. If you contact tech support, GOOD LUCK!

I had trouble with a Roland once. Turned out the cable was too long.
