Anyone know of a good supplier of double sided masking tape for router hold down work? Looked in local hardware but no luck. Or any ideas of what works.
Tried banner tape and double face adhesive tape

We use banner tape. Used for taping up the hems on banners. We get it from Ameriban. I don't have their phone number handy. e-mail me if you are interested.

Another idea for you that has worked for us. Sometimes we cover the back of the sign with paint mask. Then we spray on some 3M Super 77 (?) Spray adhesive. Then we lay it down on a sacrificial layer. We havn't had any trouble with the sign shifting nor getting it off the sacrificial layer after routing. We get the spray adhesive at the lumber yard or hardware store.

Carpet tape has also worked.

i had bought some tape from hyatts but it was like 28 bux a roll...now i use banner 2 sided tape and that seems fine(9 bux)...of course i use it conjunction with vacuum hold down...i never trust mdo alone or expensive woods/foam.

I have a vaccuum hold down but when the piece is to small I use Tuff Tape from Specialty Tapes, Inc. I apply application tape or paint mask to the back of the sign then use the tape on that. Makes it easier to get the tape off without damaging your sign or leaving adhesive behind.

I use double face carpet tape available and most hardware stores and its cheap $3 to $5 a roll.
