In the past I've done window treatments with gold/silver leaf,But, Is there any tips or tricks for using it on steel or alum.? I'm trying to get away from the paint/chrome thing on my street rod.I'm thinking about verious brackets (small non-moving)and metal trim stuff.

I'm building a '27 ford track rodster with old style nose and all. the running gear will be newer type stuff,8' ford-disc brakes-small block chevy with TH350.

hey Jim... the leaf will work fine on any metal with some prep work, basic info... the smoother the finish the better the gold/silver(paladium) finish. Clearcoat will protect it. It will not look like plating however.... like most things give it a try on a sample piece and work your own magic from there.... Hey try some engine turning on that bare aluminum too!! nice ride by the way!... may have to swing by your place when we are on tour in Feb! GEET

I Don't have pictures but, I had the same track nose. I had side pannels drop down from the hood. On each sideside pannels I mounted "Dart swinger" hood scoops with opening to the back, to let heat out. On top of the hood I graphed a "Trans Am" shaker scoop, then cut the center out for the tripower chrome bee hives to pop through. I had done this 1980-1, Thanks for the flash back. Ahhhh,Anglia's are fun rides,I always wanted to build one,But was never in the right spot when one came up for sale. I'm not planing on hood sides but I'm leaning towards the tri-power,Make look alittle "old school" even with new stuff.. Neat idea, but I don't think it will hold up well enough. Even with a urethane clearcoat, you will be touching the stuff up all the time. The clear just won't stick to gold well enough. I wouldn't have too high expectations unless it was to be a show-only car, and then it would work. Just paint it as usual and gild over the paint and clear.

Nice site Greg, Good ol' Firebird,I raced my pinto there when I lived in Boise. Always loved the "little" cars ever since I went to Pomona in the early '60s
